She just said it was another escalation, this time on the Israeli side. And she's right - attacking an embassy was bound to bring retaliation, as both the US and Israel said they expected. Just didn't know what or when.
With US help, almost none of the drones got through to do any overwhelming damage - other than to the families of any who were killed. 🥺

A bit of background first: my husband had been gifted with a teeny battery operated TV as a work reward. In the summer of 1987, I was a stay at home mom with 1 & 3 year old boys.
We had no air conditioning but we did have a kiddie pool for them. It was very warm & sunny and i spent a lot of time outside watching them play in the water (slathered with waterproof sunscreen first).

It was also the summer that the Tower Commission was investigating.the Iran-Contra scandal, aka arms for hostages and while the kids swam I was glued to the TV every afternoon watching the testimony as Lt. Col. Oliver North, USMC, figuratively "fell on his sword" to protect the President.

To this day I can't decide if Reagan really knew what was going on or if they all did it behind his back. But several of those high in his administration were indicted and waiting to stand trial. Oliver North was found guilty and sentenced but never served time - his conviction was vacated.
President Bush issued six pardons, including one to Natl Sec. Advisor Robert McFarlane, who had already been convicted, and one to former Sec Def Caspar Weinberger before he even stood trial. Here's the cheat chart just to make it easy:

I just find it interesting that when illegal stuff actually results in indictments and jail time, it seems as though it's usually under a Republican administration..

Now please let's hear about all the nefarious characters who worked for Carter. Or Clinton. Or Obama. All those scandals that happened on their watches. Because tbh, my memory must be completely failing (possible) because I can't think of any instances where people high in their administrations were investigated, indicted and found guilty and even ( as in Watergate and Russia Russia Russia ) sent to prison because of actions or schemes undertaken at the behest of a Democratic President.
