This case should never have been brought. The people who think there is a crime here must have attended the Course: “How To Make A Fool of Yourself 101!”

Let’s assume Trump exaggerated the value of his property. The bank has an obligation to do an appraisal. Trump disagrees with the appraisal and goes elsewhere. He goes elsewhere and gets another appraisal and likes the appraisal and decides to sign a contract for the loan. He puts up the property for collateral. He defaults on the loan. It happens in a recession where property values have dropped. The bank puts a lien on the property and then tries to sell the property, but due to the state of the economy can’t sell it to cover the balance owed. Pegw would argue Trump should go to jail for taking a loan for the higher appraisal, for defaulting on the loan and for the economic recession, and the loss incurred by the bank. That’s nonsense.
Any contract has risks and rewards. One has to do a risk reward assessment before they sign on the dotted line. That’s just the business.

If you buy a car and default on the loan the dealer will repossess the car. If that happens the car is now a used car and the dealer is likely to incur a loss. If Pegw was the buyer, I say the dealer should not only repossess the car but charge Pegw the money for the losses incurred. And if Pegw did not pay the loss, she should go to jail. Pegw would you agree with this outcome?

Finally, Did the fraud lead to the lender’s detriment? No, the bank made interest on the entire loan and it was all paid back over a long term loan contract Where’s the detriment?

Peg, you need a base course in Economics 101 and Contract Law 100!

The banks said he paid back all the loans and want to do business with him .

All this hate coming from our OPP lefties has rotted their brains .

I do the same I go to my banker and say my farm is worth 3 Million dollars banker say no it's worth 1.5 Million we'll loan you $900,000 . I broke no law !

This is what Trump did but our OPP Trump haters haven't the brains to figure that out truth matters nothing to them!

If you rob a bank, you don't get to keep the money regardless if you do it by gun point or by committing fraud. Our favorite career criminal did it by fraud and had a two month trial and was found guilty.

PigW, you watch too much CNN and you believe your fart checkers when an intelligent person wouldn't.

It is not bail, it is a monetary fine to recover the amount of the fraud.

Only there was no fraud. For there to be fraud,m there needs to be a victim. And there wasn't and you are still a troll

Show us the so called fraud since there was no victim. Show us how NY deserves this excessive amount of money that has no factual basis. He is not a career criminal, but a businessman acting within the norms of the industry. And he was declared guilty before the trial began. As usual, your comments remind me of the word doofus. Wonder why.

Latitia James and Judge Engoron are using the process to punish the defendant before the final verdict is in. That is sinful!

Due process must exercise fundamental fairness which was not the case in this trial
