It guarantees that the state would not be able to use its power to interfere with religion, and vise versa. I happen to be a person of faith, but my faith is my own personal business. Hindus would be leading prayers in class to one of the many gods that they believe in. How about atheist and agnostic parents having to expose their children to a religion that they don't believe in?
I am very much in favor in teaching about the various religions of the world, and what they are all about. I actually taught this as a part of a Modern World History course in Maryland, but am very much against prayer in public schools!

A faith that is hidden is no faith at all. Your post shows total ignorance of how the founding fathers viewed the first amendment. I would try to educate you but it would be pointless.
