Were China to initiate a war. their oil supply would be cut off, plus cutting all export ties to the west would strike the Chinese economy a terrible blow. Add some deep sanctions and sustaining a war beyond, say, 6 months would be a big problem.
Many US firms are even now pulling out of China. They read the tea leaves.

Let us hope the MAD concept stays fully in place.
