Wages are paid competitively according to the kind of jobs performed. It is the prevailing rate with raise as a result of inflation. The local residents instead of working prefer to handout or to loot, a very lucrative business.

I've noticed that in lawn maintenance, nobody among the local Americans wanted to do the jobs. Most of the workers are Mexicans and Asians. And they do good jobs.

My husband hired Vietnamese in 1991, the father, mother and 2 young boys, about 7-9 years old, helped them during weekends. They lasted for several years working for us.

Several years later, I was surprised they came to visit. My husband already gone. The older boy became as Dentist, and the other an Airline Pilot. I was so happy they remembered us. My husband was very kind man, and also, he was a Vietnam Vet. So, they loved him. The mother and father had then retired, and their boys taking care of them. They were Catholics. Vietnam was under France for many years, and many Vietnamese were converted to Catholic Christians. At present, Mexicans do the yard work at home. I want to hire local but can't find any.

Farms in Eastern, WA, mostly hire Mexicans. They are registered farm workers. They pay income taxes, but not required to pay SS and Medicare, since they don't have those benefits. Lead by adult, every summer vacation, our Catholic Church sends those high school boys to Eastern WA, to teach or tutor the Mexican children. They also help them build homes.

No locals are interested to doing farm works. They think it is a slave work.

If they are here legally, they may pay taxes. If they are here illegally, they do not pay taxes because then there would be a record of where they were and could be deported.
Here where I live, the locals work the farms and ranches. Illegals are beginning to come in and they will probably be taking the jobs away from the locals since the open borders policy of the Biden Administration started.
As far as the price of the produce going up if they hire locals, the farmers and ranchers get whatever the market price for their products are, regardless of what the people are paid to work on their farms. They cannot refuse to sell the produce until they get the price they want because it will spoil and be worthless. Probably the thing that will determins how much profit they made is the price of fuel and the cost of their tractors and equiptment, which has gone thru the roof since Biden took office.
The price the consumer has to pay is high largely because of the cost to transport it from the farms to the stores. The truckers cannot pay the price for the trucks and fuel unless the make more money to haul the produce and the consumer ends up paying the higher cost,
If you want to blame someone for what is happening to this country, look at the crooked politicians we now have running the country, spending our money like there is no end to it, doesn't matter if it helps the American people or not, they can always raise our taxes if they start running out of money. $31.4 trillion debt, $1.3 billion a day in interest alone.
This has got to stop. We are losing our once great country, not only because of the humongus debt but it is beginning to look more like a dictatorship than a democrocy all the time. When is it going to stop? When we are bankrupt and haver nothing left, and we are getting closer to that point every day.

Prisons are not the same as they used to be.
My father worked for the State for 33 years. He was supervisor of the crews that worked the prisoners on the roads, They also had a garden at the prison and grew most of the food they ate. When night came, they didn't feel like causing trouble, they just wanted to get some rest. Now they do nothing but set around and figure out something to cause trouble.
They also had a rock crusher that they crushed gravel for the roads and the prisoners busted the rock in the quary with sledge hammers for the crusher. Can't do that anymore. Inhumane. I guess the fact that some of the people who took other innocent peoples lives, were not doing something inhumane.
The world has gone crazy.

These farm workers are registered and approved by the State to work. Since no one in our country will do the jobs. If no one, who will harvest. We have no food supplies in the market. We will starve as well.

I do know that there are Mexicans who come illegally and work under the table. the faults of the employers as well. They want to save money.
But for labor jobs, local citizens don't want to work. Biden gives them lots of money.

When Trump was president, he released tens of thousands of low-level convicts. Gave them training in various companies. And after trained, they were given jobs to keep. they became proud of being responsible.

Instead, now plenty of looters in billions of dollars, and many businesses are closing due to bankruptcies done by looters. There are many Walgreens Pharm. in San Fran. closing, Walmart, Macy's, Frederick's, etc. Fewer stores are left in San Francisco. NYC comes next.

I have always wondered. Do the people who employ these farm workers pay them the same as they pay the locals. The local people work the farms here. And they are paid at least the minimum wage. They don't have to hire the foreign workers. If they could get the foreign workers for less money, I am sure they would hire them, and the locals would have to go on welfare.

I know that. The people who did the hardest jobs, are the early settlers from Europe, the Irish, Italians, Chinese from Asia, and many others. Most legal immigrants worked hard and became successful. Elon Musk is a legal immigrant from South Africa, and Canada. He is the highest taxpayers of the country. He paid $21 billion, and $11 billion from his income recent years. Elon works 16 hours/day. He works hard and he is so brilliant.

I understand that. I am 93 yrs old. Worked all my life. All the jobs when I was young, were hard working jobs. There were very few easy jobs, like office jobs. Now, most of the farm and ranch jobs are about the most manual labor jobs there are left.
Most of the illegals I have seen have a limited education, know nothing but manual labor, are not qualified for anything else.
I know that the freebees that the Biden Administration is handing out has stopped a lot of people from applying for jobs, especially hard labor jobs, like farm workers. I also know that the illegals have taken a lot of the jobs that the Amerticans would be doing if the farmers had to pay them the same, plus keep the books and pay taxes like the legals have do. Also the Americans are usually higher educated, can do jobs the illegals cannot do.
No illegal has a right to be in this country and needs to be deported. There is a right way to come to this country and it should be the only way.
The illegals are costing the taxpayers billions every day and will continue as long as we have open borders like we now have. This needs to be stopped, immediately. It is ruining this country.
