IMO the problem is the tone you set with the first post. I have seen you engage without doing that which is nice. Unfortunately there are too many on both sides that fling silly insults from the get go.

Yes, which is kind of my point....why choose just Catholics? Why not Jewish or Islamic or Buddhists ... other religious persons ... to point out the bad behavior? It's not just Catholics that have the distinction of behaving badly. It's like starting a topic about prostitution, but only talking about prostitutes in, say, Kansas.

Its the most widely reported on. They made a movie about it - Spotlight - and the Irish made a couple based on true stories. One was run by abusive nuns called The Magdalene Sisters about some girls sent to a Magdelene asylum. Another was about young boys sent to something similar. They didn’t touch on some of these being run by protestants
