Yeah any labor shortages are because of a lack of jobs, now with less jobs available and now a flood of unskilled labor; tell us how this helps anything other than a way to let some politicians lower the unemployment numbers just before an election. Should the electorate endorse this logic than that’s because of unemployment benefits availability, this seems to always happen just in time for elections. The way this is played there will always be labor shortages 🤠

I think a labor shortage means a lack of workers, not a lack of jobs.

DASHY. Those labor shortages you seem to adopt as a need for more illegal immigration was manufactured with the pandemic, the only folks working were those deemed essential, ask anyone how there employer had to jump through hoops just to get enough personnel on the job and heaven forbid you sneezed at work. While we were kept home America and most of the world was brought to its knees; many lost everything…then all this craziness began 🤠

I am not adopting anything. I'm simply pointing out that labor shortage means shortage of workers. Restaurant owners in my town tell me they have a hard time finding workers to fill the jobs they offer.

Be that as you say, this not true everywhere any some cases its because these workers don’t get the full tip and must share it with everyone on that shift because of company policies or from local government intervention. The Restaurant uses the tips as an excuse to pay their employees minimum wages or sometimes less when it can get away with it (great reason for using illegals) at any rate that stigma alone makes most folks look elsewhere for work 🤠

No - it means there is a shortage of workers unwilling to work those positions. If the 'workers' have another source of income, then they do not need to work (unemployment or other government 'entitlements) or simply choose to live on whatever the can scrounge.

Well whatever the reason you should agree that the pay stinks, why would you want illegals to fill those positions anyway, maybe that is just a talking point shared by many liberals; yeah we need them to do the jobs that Americans want do…I submit if you turn illegals into citizens as old Joe wants then they won’t work at all and will end up on welfare…give them the vote and you may find yourself working one of those restaurant jobs, then again you might have to learn multiple languages just to be employed there 🤠

We have all noticed the price of a restaurant meal is rising. At the same time, the restaurant industry has the highest quit rate of any other industry, especially in the fast food segment. People looking for work who have no special skill or education face job openings that offer low compensation, poor benefits and long hours. It might be time to consider raising the minimum wage. Organized labor (unions) or willing immigrants might help fill the labor shortage gap.

No need. The free market will handle,it.

They are not ‘immigrants’, they are illegal aliens.

The free market throry is not working in the restaurant/hospitality industry. Capitalism domination still needs worker bees to survive.

Restaurants can still compete for customers if only they could get people to work for them.https://www.businessinsider.com/restaurant-worker-shortage-continuing-through-2022-survey-2022-2

Really, you said THEM? WE ARE ALL AMERICANS. Don't try to set yourself above THEM.

Them... was the correct terminology, as she was referring to MEGA people, she never implied they were not American's. It was a compassionate post you tried to find fault with, you failed youngwilliam, try again. Or better yet, try a compassionate post yourself to bridge the gap and reach an understanding.

And the free market will work that out.

Do I need to explain that to you?

You should explain your theory to the restaurant owners who are desperate to find enough people to work for them just to keep them open and on a fixed schedule.
