America was named after an Italian explorer Americus Vespucci.

Columbia was named by the Act of Congress in 1790-1791. George Washington used a female name Columbia. Why I don't know. Perhaps derived from the name of Italian explorer Coumbus in 1492.

I wrote this with relevance to the discovery of America. Italy and Spanish explorers were very common during those years from 1400's to 1500's. Fact was Columbus explorations were funded by the King and Queen of Spain.

Spain also explored the Philippines in 1521. The name Philippines was derived from the name of King Philip of Spain. RP was exploited by Spanish rule for 375 years, until the US took over in 1896. The only great thing Spain did was the establishment of the Catholic Christian faith. Until the US took over in 1896, when Phil. educational system was changed to the US system.

RP is a small country with 700 islands. More than that during low tide.

Currently, President Biden again established 3 Military stations at the Phil., in preparation and US defense in the event China invades Taiwan.

The Moro Bay in San Luis Obispo, CA was discovered by the following. On October 18, 1587, the first Filipinos landed in what is now the Continental United States at Morro Bay.

The Spanish Galeon crew captured Filipinos, to serve as crew aboard the Nuestra Señora de Buena Esperanza, which had sailed from Portuguese Macau, as part of the Manila galleon trade between the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico) and its subordinate territories in the East Indies.
During about three days of travels ashore around Morro Bay, the crew of the Nuestra Señora de Buena Esperanza came in contact with the Chumash people, ultimately resulting in the death of a Filipino crew member.

It's been 43 yrs since we came to this great country, called United States of America..My memories of Soviet Union are still vivid.. My family was very close knit..We lived in small studio, all 4 of us, but we were very happy.. My school was within walking distance..40 students in one class, from first grade all the way to 8th.. Same teachers...I still remember my math teacher.. Of course in schools they were teaching us that America is evil.. My dad hated Communism.. He actually wanted to move to States when I was a little girl..but my mom's parents were totally against it..Than one day it happened..When I was 14 my dad told me, we are moving to America.. Of course after all the bad things teachers in school told us about far away country, I told my parents that I will run away... The only way I agreed to go was when my dad told me I will have my own room..lol...So one day my dad went to my school's principal and told him we are going to Finland for my dad's work for 1 year ... We couldn't say we are moving to America.. The next day whole school knew my secret, even my biggest enemies became my friends because they want me to bring blue jeans....lol..It was 3 months after that day that we finally were going to move..

I have to mention biggest reason that my parents wanted to leave Soviet Union.. We were , we are Jewish.. Back than being Jewish was dangerous.. My family was constantly threatened by a thug who lived above us..I was attacked by some of my classmates for being Jewish..My cousin who was straight A student could not get into colleges of his choice because of his religion... This was main reason for my dad wanting us to move to this great country..America..

Of course there were good memories too.. I miss my friends, change of seasons holidays .. We did had fun.. I miss my mom and dad who've recently passed away.. My reason for writing this is for people to understand that just because I lived in communist country, does not mean I'm communist sympathizer.. If you guys have any questions , I will answer them..

From the Philippines. My father is 50% Spanish. RP was under the tyranny of Spain for 375 years. You and I both came here as young teen age girls. We were both yelled at OPP. So, be strong, I am with you.

You are lucky you have a son. Love him and give him good education, so he can build a good family.

I have no children. My husband was called for duty while at his Senior year in college. He was trained 6 months at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Before leaving for Vietnam, he came back to me, and married me. Sad thing is he is the only child, now taken to Vietnam. Without that cancer, he could have lived long. His parents lived 101 and 91 years old.

After graduating college, I worked for a private company for 5 years. My first boss was a Jew. He looked like Rabbi Khan with a beard. I learned from him a lot. And he trusted me on the whole accounting department. At 21 years old, he sent me to negotiate a loan with the VP of Seattle
First Bank . The loan was approved. We built our own office building. He asked me after he knew I had a fiance, a 3rd generation American, I met in college. I told him the last name. He said, Swedes are selfish people. That was funny, because I did not tell origins of his ancestors. Anyway, my husband was gone now due to cancer sprayed with agent orange in Vietnam. Doctor told me agent orange caused his cancer.

God is great RP. And I love the Jewish people of Israel.
