Why I left Soviet Union...
It's been 43 yrs since we came to this great country, called United States of America..My memories of Soviet Union are still vivid.. My family was very close knit..We lived in small studio, all 4 of us, but we were very happy.. My school was within walking distance..40 students in one class, from first grade all the way to 8th.. Same teachers...I still remember my math teacher.. Of course in schools they were teaching us that America is evil.. My dad h**ed C*******m.. He actually wanted to move to States when I was a little girl..but my mom's parents were totally against it..Than one day it happened..When I was 14 my dad told me, we are moving to America.. Of course after all the bad things teachers in school told us about far away country, I told my parents that I will run away... The only way I agreed to go was when my dad told me I will have my own room..lol...So one day my dad went to my school's principal and told him we are going to Finland for my dad's work for 1 year ... We couldn't say we are moving to America.. The next day whole school knew my secret, even my biggest enemies became my friends because they want me to bring blue jeans....lol..It was 3 months after that day that we finally were going to move..
I have to mention biggest reason that my parents wanted to leave Soviet Union.. We were , we are Jewish.. Back than being Jewish was dangerous.. My family was constantly threatened by a thug who lived above us..I was attacked by some of my classmates for being Jewish..My cousin who was straight A student could not get into colleges of his choice because of his religion... This was main reason for my dad wanting us to move to this great country..America..
Of course there were good memories too.. I miss my friends, change of seasons holidays .. We did had fun.. I miss my mom and dad who've recently passed away.. My reason for writing this is for people to understand that just because I lived in c*******t country, does not mean I'm c*******t sympathizer.. If you guys have any questions , I will answer them..
America is the best country in the world!! .. Some people who were born here and think America is evil should move to country like Venezuela to know what evil really looks like..

I am So happy for you to make it out of a country where you suffered because of what you are. People born here take so much for granted and do not know how lucky they are . You do
Thank you.. And you are right, people who are born here take this country for granted..

P R,
Thanks for the history resume.
Most interesting.
You mentioned you were taught America BAD there in Russia.
Now we are told Russia BAD,China GOOD.
Frankly I feel we are being brainwashed as I do no feel China Good.
I understand when Russia was a C*******t country NATO was established to protect Europe from C*******t aggression.
We entered the Vietnam war fighting North Vietnam to keep c*******m out of South Vietnam. The same during the 50's in Korea. North Korea is C****e like C*******t China.
All my 84 years I have been told c*******m like Cuba,China, North Korea and North Vietnam is bad.
After USSR was no longer c*******t nation in 1999, it would seem NATO is no longer needed as it's no longer C*******tic.
I would appreciate any thoughts on all this media brainwashing we are constantly exposed to.
Thanks again for your post. Interesting...ð

One of the reasons I h**e Putin, is because he was part of KGB.. My dad used to tell me stories about his friends disappearing in the middle of the night was because they were anti government..My dad used to tell me not to joke about C*******m, about Russian President.. KGB were ruthless thugs.. And putin was part if it.. He is still ruthless thug..

I think I mentioned this before but I had a step mother born in Poland in 1921. Her father was a secretary to the Czar Alexander the Great who were all murdered in Russia.
She wanted out of there and her uncle told her during WWII to get to Germany and the Americans would take Germany and hook up with an American to make it here. She was schooled in Liningrad as I recall.
She did just that at age 16 in 1944.
Alexandra was her first name. We called her Sondra. She never went back to Russia.
She never told me much about her time there as a child and how rough it was to eat during the war. I won't comment on what they had to eat to survive.ðĪŠ
I was born here and always believed that being born in America is like hitting the lottery! If you don't think so move to another country and then you will see the difference!

And you, my friend, are more of a faithful American, a traditional faithful American, than all your detractors combined. You help to make us strong.
