One more example of how the US Educational is becoming more and more like a 3rd world country.

"Oregon (D) Governor Kate Brown signed a bill last month that high school students do not have to prove they can read, write, or do math before they graduate.

Senate Bill 744, which was passed in June and signed into law last month, suspends the proficiency requirements for students for three years, the Washington Examiner reported.

According to the Oregonian, Brown signed Senate Bill 744 privately and did not issue a news release on July 14, but wasn't added to the state's database until July 29, which isn't the norm. ....

Supporters of the bill say the existing skills were an unfair challenge to students who did not test well.

In an email to the media outlets, Charles Boyle, a spokesman for the governor, said the new standards for graduation would help benefit the state’s "Black, Latino, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color." " In other words, it's easier to dumb down your educational standards, rather than holding teachers and students accountable.

Bit by bit will soon be an avalanche. The worst part? It’s not like we didn’t see it coming. One group actually encourages it while another group stands idly by. This is what happens when a society sets aside high expectations and high standards. It’s no wonder we ended up with a demented anti U.S. pedophile as POTUS.

How does graduating high school as a functional illiterate "help" anyone? It might help them into incarceration because they have no job skills and lack the tools to acquire them.

The first thing we have to do is get rid of the dept of education. They have been the big problem since put in place. Let the states be in charge of schools not some idiots in Washington.

As long as the dumbed-down kids can recognize the capitol letter D and its significance, then the Marxists have their next generation of voters ready to go.

I do agree somewhat with this idea. If the State can work more with local school districts. Especially in the area of infrastructure support. Supporting a strong state organized teacher's union. Then not having a Federal DE will be a good idea.

Teachers union is the antithesis of freedom.
