School choice is the answer. It works great in Arizona. Teachers unions h**e it, because it takes away their monopoly and power. It let's parents decide how their children are educated and not indoctrinated. Parents can, and have, defunded schools until they close from lack of funds...hence unions opposition

My 3rd grader is taking Latin and anatomy. No time for indoctrination, and if they try...you just send your child to a different school.

I do agree somewhat with this idea. If the State can work more with local school districts. Especially in the area of infrastructure support. Supporting a strong state organized teacher's union. Then not having a Federal DE will be a good idea.

The federal government does not belong in the education business. Look what they’ve done.
The teachers union is a huge part of the problem.
Abolish the federal department of education and provide school choice nation wide.

How does graduating high school as a functional illiterate "help" anyone? It might help them into incarceration because they have no job sk**ls and lack the tools to acquire them.

Now anybody these people trust can say you need to sign this and they will be responsible for a loan they didn't know about, or they've signed away their house. This doesn't help them one bit it puts them at risk if they can't read a danger sign n which they and anyone working around them could be injured or k**led

One more example of how the US Educational is becoming more and more like a 3rd world country.

"Oregon (D) Governor Kate Brown signed a bill last month that high school students do not have to prove they can read, write, or do math before they graduate.

Senate Bill 744, which was passed in June and signed into law last month, suspends the proficiency requirements for students for three years, the Washington Examiner reported.

According to the Oregonian, Brown signed Senate Bill 744 privately and did not issue a news release on July 14, but wasn't added to the state's database until July 29, which isn't the norm. ....

Supporters of the bill say the existing sk**ls were an unfair challenge to students who did not test well.

In an email to the media outlets, Charles Boyle, a spokesman for the governor, said the new standards for graduation would help benefit the state’s "Black, Latino, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color." " In other words, it's easier to dumb down your educational standards, rather than holding teachers and students accountable.
One more example of how the US Educational is beco... (show quote)

I always thought those people in Oregon were a little slow anyways . So I don't think you'll notice much difference now.

Just 😂 kidding.

Because teachers unions don't want competition, they always block school choice. Having only one choice isn't freedom, it's a monopoly.

Some days I do get the strong feeling that the country is being held together solely with baling twine and bubble gum.
