Trump did not encourage any insurrection and and it was a demonstration, pushed by outside elements that aren't being prosecuted, that turned into a riot. Trump was let off of the hook on impeachment because republicans refused to hold him accountable, not because it was not proved he did the crimes as charged, but because they refused to hold him accountable.

When the DOJ decides not to prosecute a crime, it's not always because there was no crime, but because the standard of proving it is too cumbersome or hard to define, that in no way means that someone is innocent, it means they are getting away with crimes.

Up until just recently, when insurrectionists were successfully charged with and found guilty of insurrection, there was constant lip service about how there was no insurrection because the DOJ had not charged it...because it's not charged didn't mean there was none.

So - If I accuse you of being a jerk and a jury of your peers on this site decides there is not enough evidence to prove that assertion/contention and finds you not guilty, does that mean you're still a jerk even though you were not found guilty of being a jerk?

Point is - Sometimes people or groups, with the express purpose of harassing, do or say something against a person or group of people EVEN IF NOT TRUE just to create a false atmosphere/mood/tone/vibe or plant false evidence and the accused is prosecuted and is found NOT GUILTY. That person or group for the rest of their existence must live with that hanging over their heads - EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT PROVEN. To further support my theory, the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the opposite of guilty as innocent.

Appears wrong to me that someone found not guilty should still be thought of as guilty. That is why we have the rule of law - innocent until proven guilty. Just think - in this example - if I used the word racist, pedophile, misogynist, or other gross bad behavior in its place.

All I am saying is that people like Donald Trump are going to be accused of all kinds of things that can't be proven. (What if I substituted the name Joe Biden in place of Donald Trump - OR, how about Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Joe Manchin, Tucker Carlson, Dan Bangino, Steve Scalise or Hillary Clinton who in my opinion are all jerks?)

Respectfully, please understand I DO NOT THINK you are a jerk and just like the DOJ, would not ask anyone on this site to adjudicate that allegation knowing there isn't any (or enough) evidence to support the accusation.

As far as Republicans not impeaching Trump - NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE. The Democrats screwed the pooch on that occasion.

And you are correct, just because DOJ doesn't charge you doesn't mean that no crime has been committed. It just means that by the RULE OF LAW anyone who would be charged with a crime has to be proven to his or her peers to be guilty with enough supporting/not false evidence - or the concept of innocent until proven guilty has no value.

A very very very unimportant, minuscule, trivial, and minor point. The anti Police riots were far worse in terms of threatening our Democracy. The Jan. 6 riot was a one off event where some idiots lost their heads, and a few bad actors took advantage of an opportunity.

The anti Police riots were a series of orchestrated episodes, designed to intimidate local governments and influence national and international sympathies.

Think hard.... the demonstrations and attention was never because Floyd was a fine person, it was about the cold blooded murder in public by a cop who had more felonies pending then floyd had ..

So very simply, the unrest was not for floyd, it was about floyd..

And of course some rat bastards who took advantage of the situation to grab the goodies while they good..

The death of George Floyd was not "cold blooded murder", it wasn't premeditated, and the cop held responsible did not have any "felonies pending", he had 17 complaints on his record, 16 of which were closed without discipline, the remaining complaint resulted in two letters of reprimand.

Floyd had a police record, he was arrested 9 times on various charges, including aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, possession with intent to distribute, theft, and others. He was a drug user, and was under the influence at the time of his death. Floyd served 8 jail terms, and for the aggravated robbery, he was sentenced to five years.

For perspective:

On May 25, 2020, a white cop unintentionally caused the death of a black criminal,
the white cop was convicted of unintentional 2nd degree murder and sent to prison.
The black criminal was hailed as a national hero, he was deified, buried in a gold coffin,
His face appeared in murals, on billboards, placards, and busts of him were created.
The ensuing violence protesting his death spread to all major cities in the US and into countries around the world.

The summer 2020 riots resulted in some 15 times more injured police officers, 30 times as many arrests, and estimated damages in dollar terms up to 1,300 times more costly than those of the Capitol riot. George Floyd rioters were found to have used more sophisticated and dangerous tactics than did the Capitol rioters, and in some cases weapons of greater lethality.

-Authorities have pursued the largely Trump-supporting Capitol rioters with substantially more vigor than suspected wrongdoers in the earlier two cases. Many accused Capitol rioters, unlike accused participants in the other riots, have been held in pretrial detention for months – with one defendant serving more time than the maximum sentence for the charge to which he pleaded guilty. Some allegedly endured solitary confinement and other mistreatment.

-With authorities applying lenient prosecutorial standards in many major cities torn by the summer riots, the vast majority of charges last year were dismissed, as were charges in the Inauguration 2017 unrest. Charges have to date been dropped in only a single Capitol riot case.

ABC: Over 60,000 officers assaulted in 2020, with 31% sustaining injuries: FBI

On Jan. 6, 2021, during the rioting at the capitol building, a black cop shot and killed an unarmed white woman.
Ashli Babbitt was a 14 year USAF veteran, her job was in intelligence, she served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Qatar.

The black cop who killed her was hailed as a national hero.
Ashli Babbitt was branded a "domestic terrorist".

History is going to show a handful of unorganized, unarmed people rushing the capitol of a country that has a military comprised of 1.3 million people on active duty, about 800,000 people in the reserves and another several hundred thousand civilian-military, and that has the ability to shoot off the ear lobe of a downtown statue with a missile that goes 2,000 mph if they want. And the children reading this part of history are going to be told by their teachers that the handful of people were put in jail for two years because they were trespassing.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall when I see those kids reaction while reading about this....

Son, often you have some worthwhile comment to make....

This post is surly the worst you have ever posted.. the main street is more important than our nations capitol???

try and get that past any rep in any government...

jan 6th, 1000s of cult members driven to violence by the speaker of the big lie.. bent on murder and overturn of our nation..

2020 riots.. local citizens making a point about murder on the streets of their city.. not one cop or NG was intimated Our Gov Walz brought in the NG and controlled the riots before the feds even made a phone call..

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The former Minneapolis police officer charged with murder in the death of George Floyd was charged Wednesday with multiple felony counts of tax evasion, according to criminal complaints that allege he and his wife didn’t report income from various jobs, including more than $95,000 for his off-duty security work.

Derek Chauvin and his wife, Kellie May Chauvin, were each charged in Washington County with six counts of aiding and abetting filing false or fraudulent tax returns in the state of Minnesota and three counts of aiding and abetting failing to file state tax returns.

The complaints allege that from 2014 through 2019, the Chauvins underreported their joint income by $464,433.
