Did it just not get hot in Summer before? Cold in Winter? How did people worldwide survive so that we can all be here now?
Maybe most are a bunch of spoiled pussies?
Yep, that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it!!

Does anyone remember the Big tube that was attached to a side window of the car? I think you put water or ice in it and as you drove it blew cold air into your car. I don't know how to cut and paste here but there are some for sale on ebay. Look up thermador auto cooler.

Oak, what time frame are we talking here? I'm 73, yet don't recall 'thermador auto coolers'. I looked 'em up and found the following...Cool

I remember seeing them in the 40's after WWII and into the 1950's. I grew up in Southern California, northern San Diego county and Elsinore Valley before there were many people living there. Graduated HS in '56. A few people had them but I never rode in any car that had one and I don't know how well they worked. People also hung those canvas water bags on their front bumpers when going on trips.

I still feel like I'm wussing out when I turn on the air conditioner at home. Feel the weather, it's natural.

Yup. Definitely thrived. I was a farm kid and we worked in the fields out in the heat of the summer ... and did not have an air conditioned home to go to at the end of the day. You sat under a shade tree and drank iced tea until you cooled off ... unless you worked until sundown, then the tree was irrelevant. Life was good then.

Old man undershirts without sleeves. Like a very light tank top.

I get it. We did not wear those. Even my Dad never wore those.

17 years old working in a 125 degree factory over summers to pay for college. Walking out to a 90 degree day was very refreshing. Worked every summer till I got an easy job spiking ties for a railroad repair company. That was the good outdoors. Youth doesn't know heat but for sex.

Ms Macho, do you live in Florida without a/c? Why are you trying to tell everybody how they should live. Where do you communists get off with your bs?

Don't care if you have it or not. Some of you try to make it like "when I was a kid, we didn't have it, just got use to the heat and it was no problem". Well guess what, they have it now and it makes the hot humid summers more bearable. Once upon a time, they didn't have electricity so your fan would be no good. Like I said, I don't care but some of you folks make really dumb comments. Want to talk about some other modern conveniences, how about refrigeration or would you rather go the ice box route?

“Some of you have it like…” Do you now think you’re a valley girl?? I bet, with a face like yours, you can stop a horse at fifty paces.

Before electricity we all had fancy fans that we wiggled in front of our faces.

You should be happy for youth, that's what built that condo you stayed while on vacation. It wasn't 70 yr old men that built it.
