Did it just not get hot in Summer before? Cold in Winter? How did people worldwide survive so that we can all be here now?
Maybe most are a bunch of spoiled pussies?
Yep, that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it!!

Since no one had it we just got used to it. Now bodies have gotten dependent on it so it will be hard for people to adjust to being without it.
When I was a kid growing up in Florida we didn't have AC and we did just fine

Well it got hot here in the summer and cold in the winter growing up we had a potbellied stove in the living room a wood cook stove in the dining room a kerosene cook stove in the kitchen no running water and in the summer we had all the doors and windows that had screens in them open and we had a hard time sleeping at night.

I reckon so. Me, I work in the heat every day. When I get home, I'm more comfortable sitting outside in the shade with a bit of a breeze.
When it's cold, I want to come in and get warm. But, not too warm cause I'm going to have to go back out in it again.

Yup. No air conditioning when I was growing up on the farm in rural Missouri. It got pretty hot in the summer, especially on the second floor. But we survived. Didn't know any different so didn't know to miss it. Even the school wasn't air conditioned. We had windows--not the microsoft kind.
Even most cars didn't have air conditioning. You had to order it special if you wanted it. Guys used to say they had a 480 air conditioner in their vehicle--4 windows down and driving 80 miles an hour.

I remember sleeping next to a window with a fan directly on my face. didn't seem to bother me then. Todays woke sissies who get triggered over pronouns will "melt" down when the brown outs eventually start. Or they lose power; or WiFi to their precious internet. Gonna be kind of fun to watch.

So convince us you don't have air conditioning? Of course you do. In Florida, damn right you have it. It's a convenience

I remember two summers in particular, one in Oklahoma City (1943), and the other at Dahlgren Va. (1985) Both were extremely hot, averaging 110 F during the day, and impossible to sleep until about midnight. Even with a fan blowing its blades out trying to help. They demonstrated frying eggs on the hood of an auto, which seemed impressive. I suppose there was another at Scott Field AFB (1952) where we were confined to barracks waiting to see if we were needed for flood duty. The second floor was rather hot and the sweat was pouring! The funny thing is I do not remember being so susceptible to heat when I was 3 to 10. (0 to 3 I do not remember at all!)
There is something to be said about getting acclimatized.

Didn’t grow up with A/C and never had it. Years ago in some areas people would sleep in their backyard if it got too hot.

They all had people with fans on long sticks that stood near them and fanned them.
My grandma had a bed on the north porch with a sheet like curtain around it for hot nights. She was born in 1902 and saw the technology until 1995. Planes, cars, moon, wars. My grandpa was mustard gassed in ww1 Germany and died of it in 56.
She saw a lot and I’m glad she didn’t see her country today. She’d be sad!

Got to agree somewhat. I went running in hot sun and over 90 temps today and I'm 81. Almost first in. I haven't used an air conditioner since the early seventies. An overhead fan, a cold shower. And when I was growing up, people often took the whole family to the park and sleep out on really hot nights. Many of our local weather records were set in the 30s and 50s, etc.
If you got out of air conditioning and adapted your body, it isn't so bad. The air conditioning makes it harder for you to take the hot weather. It is summer. It is supposed to be hot. We waited all winter for hot weather.
