Cliff Notes Version of this article:
Article 4, §4 of the Constitution -- the Guarantee Clause -- asserts:
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government… [that is, one ruled with the consent of the people].” Obviously, a government that rules by means of vote fraud does not rule with the consent of the people.
A variety of vulnerabilities, including absentee voting, were addressed in 2004 in John Fund’s book, Stealing Elections. How Voter Fraud Threatens our Democracy. With respect to absentee voting, a 2005 commission on federal election reform -- co-chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker III
identified absentee ballots as “the largest source of potential voter fraud.” And in 2012, again on postal voting, Adam Liptak of the New York Times wrote:
“Voting by mail is now common enough and problematic enough that election experts say there have been multiple elections in which no one can say with confidence which candidate was the deserved winner.”The stated rationale is that such voting is more convenient, and so increases turnout, and the more turnout, the better. While that may be true, if mail-in such voting also increases voter fraud, then convenience is irrelevant! The Constitution guarantees election integrity, not convenience or turnout. If we are to ensure honest elections, the time to act is now!

So long as you conservatives would rather listen to lies over truth there's not a damn thing that can be done to restore confidence to our election. Remember 2016? Trump was running around claiming that Democrats were cheating without a single vote being cast. Remember 2020? Trump made the same claim and what is really galling is that in both cases conservatives believed his accusations were true. Do you want confidence in our election? Stop nominating known liars to office...

Sure, if you accept it as a given that "absentee ballots are “the largest source of potential voter fraud" then "mail in voting" and "mail drop boxes" must be eliminated. You don't put "Convenience" ahead of election integrity. I am sure that there are good and sufficient reasons for some "absentee voting", but the initial controls place on that voting were eliminated.
Check out the posted conditions for voting by absentee ballot in Alabama. This is probably a good place to start in setting reasonable non in-person voting rules:
You may vote by absentee ballot in Alabama if:
You will be absent from the county on Election Day.
You are ill or have a physical disability that prevents a trip to the polling place.
You are a registered Alabama voter who is temporarily living outside the county (such as a member of the armed forces, a voter employed outside of the United States, a college student, or a spouse or child of such a person).
You are an appointed election officer or poll watcher at a polling place other than your regular polling place.
You work a required shift - 10 hours or more - that coincides with polling hours.
You are a caregiver for a family member who is confined to the home.
You are incarcerated but otherwise eligible to vote.

You sound confused, Trump won in 2016, that was Hillary screaming voter fraud "still is" six years later. Remember because of Covid "supposedly", voting rules became laxed and therefore more vulnerable in 2020.

They will never let elections be fair because they know they can't win
When the red states write voting laws that are not intended to restrict segments of the population from voting, those laws will stand..

We will continue to write laws that restrict foreigners, comatose and dead people from voting. Thank you. You may return your head to the sand now

There isn’t a mess our elections are incredibly secure. One thing we could do is make election days federal holidays.
