Most took expensive high quality custom firearms to give yourself a competitive edge... .45's that are custom tuned for trigger pull and feed reliability, speed event revolvers that have incredible trigger pulls, AR15 style rifles that will shoot nice groups at 600yds.

I am a gun enthusiast. I am also a veteran and unlike you, I have been in a shooting fight. I competed against active duty law enforcement and have won one competition and placed in the top five in three others.
I do support background checks that we have now. The problems start after the check is done and the 100,000 plus stops last year alone resulted in less than one hundred prosecutions. The goobermint claims a lack of funding. That's odd; they just gave 40 billion dollars of our money to Ukraine.
We have instant background checks right now that work just fine almost all the time. At least as well as the "waiting period" you espouse.
We already have mental health reporting. Once more nothing is perfect.
Red flag laws such as Florida's are fine. They must be preferred by law enforcement, medical personnel or an officer of the court, upon receipt of evidence, and the complaint must be sworn to on penalty of perjury by the complainant. You don't have these petty and malicious actions like in MD, where anyone can swear to a red flag complaint with no proof and no penalties for lying. This resulted in the death of at least one innocent man.
If the subject is found innocent his property is returned IMMEDIATELY, he doesn't have to wait months to get it back. How would you like it if someone swore out a red flag on you because you pissed them off and all your expensive toys were confiscated and you had to wait months to get them back after having been found innocent?
As for magazine restrictions, why? I thought you were some sort of expert. Pore lil' ol' me, who only qualified expert with both rifle and pistol in the Army, and who has actually been in a shooting fight, can change out a magazine in less than five seconds, usually in about three or four. You mean to tell me an expert like you with all your expensive toys can't do this? It is a skill that takes an hour to learn.
(Maybe two hours or three for a ten-thumbed Liberal.)Maybe you can explain to this old knuckle-walker what difference a larger magazine makes when most mass shootings are ambushes in which no one can shoot back because they happen in gun free zones? I know, pass more laws that say no guns allowed; that should solve the problem. When no one can return fire, and anyone with normal dexterity can change out magazines in a couple of heartbeats, what the hell difference does the magazine size make? I personally prefer the twenty over the thirty, simply because back when I was in the Army the twenty's were less likely to have spring problems.
One more thing; all your expensive toys to give yourself a "competitive edge" and all the tacticool crap so popular today means nothing in a real fight. You are probably going to be taken by surprise, or at least without much notice. Most incidents occur at less than twenty yards.Your target is shooting back and if you aren't moving you are an idiot. I have trained to shoot while moving and it's totally different. Now try it when you're being shot at. You want something that will actually benefit you in real life, practice shooting on the move and getting at least three rounds into a torso sized target at distances of ten to twenty yards as fast as you can. You don't need to drive tacks, you need to put rounds in the torso as fast as you can at realistic ranges.
