Slavery Reparations Are Now a Reality

Reparations for descendants of enslaved people, namely black and Native Americans, have been a major talking point of the progressive Left. While the idea to hand people money because their ancestors were once slaves may seem ridiculous, there’s been a pretty large effort to bring the idea to life. Harvard University recently stated it would make these reparations a reality.

A report from the New York Times indicated Harvard’s new commitment to funnel $100 million into a Legacy of Slavery Fund will go pay for research and memorializing Harvard’s history regarding slavery. The university has also mentioned money will go into working with the descendants of Native and black Americans it enslaved in the past.

Lawrence S. Bacow, President of Harvard, admitted the university benefited from immoral practices, adding his belief that those within the school bear the responsibility to address those issues. An internal report from the university explains it owes its wealth to the school’s patrons who made their money on the backs of slaves. Furthermore, Harvard’s report has a list of 70 Native and black Americans whom prominent figures throughout Harvard’s history enslaved. The university also made recommendations on how to utilize the massive fund.

It’s simply insane to hold people who had nothing to do with slavery accountable for what their ancestors did. The same goes for anyone who’s set to receive financial compensation. They were never slaves, yet they will receive reparations? Couldn’t this money go into something a little more important or beneficial?

Black Africans practised slavery on a scale unheard of in the United States where only a few hundred thousand slaves were ever imported. In Africa half the continent was enslaved by black Africans. We’re talking tens of millions of black slaves owned by blacks. Europeans have tried to end slavery in Africa but blacks to this day insist it is part of African culture to enslave blacks. Thousands of European and American slaves were held in Africa in the early American republic and colonial period by black Africans. Let’s talk about that.

Why don’t we talk about the African origins of black slavery in America? It was a black slave owner in Virginia that demanded from the courts his right to hereditary African style slavery whereas under the English there had only been indentured servitude of 4 - 7 years. Let’s talk about that.

Far more American blacks have ancestors that owned blacks slaves than American whites. Let’s talk about that.

Most African slaves went to central and south America, not North America. Let’s talk about that.

Obama, Biden, and Kamala Harris all come from slave owning families in the 19th century while Trump, Reagan, and most other white republicans do not. Let’s talk about that.

Republicans ended slavery in America. Let’s talk about that.

Slavery was legal when it was practiced in America and slaves were compensated with food, drink, clothing, medical treatment, and housing so why would there be any possible grounds for legal claims since the practice was perfectly legal and compensation was already received? Let’s talk about that.

Black slaves were enslaved by blacks, not by whites. They were already slaves when they were purchased by whites. Let’s talk about that.

Why aren’t blacks demanding reparations from the blacks that enslaved them? Let’s talk about that.

Black slaves were treated better than white slaves in America. Do you know why? Let’s talk about that.

Oh you didn’t know there were thousands of white slaves in the south? Let’s talk about that.

One of the largest slave plantations of all time and certainly the largest in the 20th c. was stocked with mostly white European slaves, millions of white Europeans were enslaved, tortured, and murdered in Russia and Europe from the 1929s -1970s. Let’s talk about that.

There are no moral or legal principles anywhere in the world that would justify people that were never enslaved to demand so-called ‘reparations’ from people that never enslaved anyone. Let’s talk about that.

The highest percentage of slave owners per capita in the south were not white Christians. Let’s talk about that.

The people that ran the trans-Atlantic slave trade in North America were also not white Christians. Let’s talk about that.

My great-great-grandfather owned several slaves and they were well taken care of. They were allowed to have families, and the records of the births were kept in Grandfather's family Bible. Some of the slaves even took his surname - which helped their descendants trace their genealogy.

Merchants, who were members of the East India Company, were largely slave traders. But when the Dutch Zionist saw how lucrative the trade was, they took over.

I don't know about the rest but Mexicans are a mixture of Aztec, Mayan, and Spanish. But the Mexicans living in Baja California don't speak Spanish. Russian and Basque had settled part of Baja and that could be the reason for the confusion of languages.
