Homestead you have made points for and against immigrants. Which way do you want to go?
What do you mean, for and against?
Adolph Hitler brought Germany out of a depression and led it into a world power. Does that justify what he did? Was it good that he did what he did? Should someone do it again, because he accomplished some good for some people, somewhere?
Shall we make a list of positives and compare it to a list of negatives and see which one is longer.
Is this how we decide things?
There is never a case that something is done, that something good or bad or both, will be a part of it.
The real question is what is the purpose of immigration? What is it that you are trying to accomplish? That there is good and bad associated with immigration is immaterial, it doesn't matter, life is like that.
Many have said that this is a country of immigrants. So, what! Even the native Americans weren't always here. They got here first, but, they got here by immigrating, from somewhere else.
Name one country in the whole world that is not made up of people that didn't immigrated there.
You think England never had immigration? Look at it's history........ having trouble? Start looking up it's history of wars, fought on it's own soil. Who were the combatants and where did they come from?
Same with China or Asia in general. Ever read the history of Rome, Persia, France, Spain, Greece, the Mayans or the Incas.
What was, what the ancients called, the trade routes? All countries are made up of people who came from some place else to settle somewhere else.
I repeat, what is the purpose of immigration?
Do we want people here because they work cheap?
We had that, they were called slaves.
If we make them American citizens and then they want more money, do we send them back?
Or do we replace them with more cheap labor, so they can join the rest of us Americans as unemployed?
This country was formed by a creed. That all men are created equal and are endowed with certain inalienable rights.
Because this nation is of the people, by the people and for the people, the citizens of this country have a bigger civic burden on them than any other country in the world. Freedom is not free.
What this country needs are citizens who want to be free, who understand the burdens they must bear to fight to keep their freedom and liberty.
There are many that are not up to the challenge. They do not need to stay and if too many do, this country will not survive. Self determination does not mean, subsidize me, at others expense.
We don't need workers, we want citizens, who can, on their own, swear elegance to this country, for which it stands, with pride, dignity, determination and resolve.
When a nation has a religion like Christianity that puts a burden on the individual to improve himself and be self reliant, within a capitalistic system that demands each person determines his own selfish self interest, under a Constitution that protects his rights to exercise his self determination and protects the fruits of his own labor, then prosperity will follow. It is the natural outcome of self reliance, Liberty and Freedom.
Immigration is simple enough. Anyone who wants to come to this country should have the opportunity.
The first thing they have to learn, is the history of this country. They have to know what our founding fathers knew and they had what was called a Classical Education. they studied world history and the bible as well as their new world.
The immigrants need to understand the importance of God in this country. That our or they're rights come from God. Why? because if they don't come from God, then they come from the government. If the government can give you rights, then the government can take them from you.
God is the foundation of the freedom in this country, don't like it......tough, get over it, or get out! It is history and the law of this land, because, our Constitution is based on it.
The next thing they need to learn is Capitalism. Nobody sat down and made the rules up.
As Newton saw an apple fall, he realized that, that event demonstrated an underlying fundamental law of physics. He didn't invent gravity he just discovered a way to recognize and account for it.
So it goes with the laws of Capitalism. Adam Smith, a Historian, wrote the book, "The Wealth of Nations," based on repeating patterns in history that revealed certain laws that when followed, lead to prosperity and when violated or ignored lead to ruin.
Lastly, they need to learn English. Our Declaration of Independence is written in English, The Constitution is written in English, The Bill of Rights are written in English. Our laws, written down in our law librarys, are written in English. Our road and warning signs are written in English, the nightly news is broadcasted in English, our news papers and magazines are written in English, we teach our own children in school English, if your going to be a productive member of this society, you have to learn English. We are an English speaking country.
There are 130, so called, civilized countries and God knows how many more after that. It is not up to us to learn all of their languages, just because when they come to our country, they're to lazy to learn ours. We speak English, get on board or get the hell out!
It should stand to reason, that we don't want criminals in this country, we have enough of our own we don't need any more.
If they have communicable diseases, it's unfortunate, but, they don't need to bring it here.
There used to be a whole practical list of reasons that people were denied entrance into this country and it worked for decade after decade. Blow the dust of it and use it again.
Finally all immigrants need to understand that they are responsible for themselves. This country may be charitable, but, it is not a charity. They must provide for themselves and their own or they can stay home.
