President Obama has taken the oath on both Lincoln's and MLK's Bibles.

I Googled deists/deism. On several websites, I found a list of many noteworthy historical figures including Lincoln and several/many Founding Fathers who were deists. I presume people will take the information as they deem it worth.

Deists do/did not dismiss the idea of God or a Supreme Being. One can read further by Googling.

it is one nation under GOD!!!! not or some supreme being, when the time comes all the non believing atheists will regret not believing, i'd rather believe in god and there not be one than not to and there is

You were referring to MY statement, not some quote from the bible. You asked me a question, and I am willing to answer it. I just don't know what you are going on about.

What I referred to after the following exchange is - your last statement below. It leaves me with the impression you are not a believer, if I misread that - sorry. Also, it appears you question Jesus authority to state the Ten Commandments as just the two I listed.

At the top of page 3 you answer Old_Gringo with this:
Depending on what version one reads, the first four or five of the Ten Commandments all demand that everyone believe in the Judeo-Christian god. That goes exactly counter to Americans' freedom of religion. The rest of the commandments are all just common sense rules for civil behavior that existed since ancient man first formed communities. I agree that morals and ethics are what bind us together, but they didn't come from the Ten Commandments.
Two lines below it, I answer your Ten Commandment statement with this:
Jesus boiled it down to two commandments - Love God first & foremost; and love your neighbor as yourself.
You follow up with:
If I were a believer, I would think you are playing with fire by messing with the Big Guy's Commandments!

the libs faith does not even include god in their vocabulary as most are just atheists, any one that believes it's alright to murder unborn children and call it abortion recognize living together without marriage or homosexual behavior as normal is not a christian and would be a contradiction if they said they were

May the Lord help you for the lack of respect you show the Navy, Judeo-Christianity and God by not capitalizing proper nouns and the ulitimate proper noun/name...God.

That, in itself, is sacrilegious. :?

The problems is we have lost God blessing we will be insignificant just like Rome for example if things don't change and we get Gods blessing back. I think things have Goton to bad were at a place of no return in my opinion.

We are here with problems & we have to solve those problems our self. We may call on our God given knowledge for help in finding the answers needed. But it is we as individuals that need to solve the problems.

When dealing with so called Godless people it is useless to believe that the word of God would have any meaning to them

"Should I obey God or man?" If I'm led to speak of God I'll do so. This is America and I have that first amendment right. If it causes people heartburn I guess they'll just have to learn to deal with it just as I deal with things I deem outrageous or inappropriate that others say. The street goes in both directions.

Too bad he was in the Navy, it sounds as though he would have been good at digging ditches, as it certainly seems as though he has dug his own!

Quite the non-responsive reply, Wb. My post was an answer to the question of where one gets the idea that some of our Founding Fathers were deists.

Is 'God' not worthy of properly capitalizing each time you bring up his name :?:

It is such a pitiful comparison, putting "God" on our money: Isn't Money the root of all evil or did Benjamin Franklin say that?

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

Read your history. 99.99999% of our founding fathers believed in God. Most all of them were Christians. Read your history. Look it up yourself. You can probably even find it on an unGodly search engine like Google. Do your own homework and stop being so lazy and asking others to do your work. I'll bet you are a democrat.

Rufus, I'll bet you don't know how to intelligently respond to a post. You ramble on needlessly and senselessly about things dear to your heart, without using your brain or responding to a post directly. I do not question the predominance of Christians in the history of our nation. My comments have simply been direct responses to the posts to which I have been responding. BTW, show me where I asked for someone to do my work for me, son.

Does Google echoing the exact same facts as other sources make it 'unGodly', or are you the ultimate source with regard to 'Godliness'?

Bless your heart, son.
