Because the founders were deists they were open to letting all religions practice in this country. The first Amendment prevents the government from having a state religion (sort of like the Church of England), and ensures freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. We have to put up with religions we don't agree with. Atheism is as much a religion as any other. It too cannot be a state religion. We do not have a theocracy, whether it be Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, or Atheism.

Good morning,
I believe contained within your 6 line comment, you have spoken volumes.
And I agree with what I think you meant.
"Because the founders were deists they were open to letting all religions practice in this country".
"We have to put up with religions we don't agree with".
"We do not have a theocracy, whether it be Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, or Atheism".
Although, I cannot support this statement below.
"One Christian is different from another Christian".
I fully realize many "believe" in The Christian God Jesus Christ of Nazareth, but "believing" "knowing" and "being"
are not synonymous.
'Knowing' means that you possess knowledge, are shrewd, suggestive or deliberate. On the other hand, 'believing' means that you have accepted something to be true, or you are confident and have trust in something. For example: you believe that you are 'outwardly beautiful', but people know that you are not.
Jesus himself put it 'bluntly when he said;
"Not every one that say unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity".
[wow, that bites down hard.]
So, I take exception to your *statement;
The title "Christian" since it was first used to describe the refugee Disciples Of Jesus, [that were escaping becoming lion food in Jerusalem] at Antioch. Has been associated with people 'believing a multitude of 'heresies.
*"One Christian is different from another Christian". No, All who 'are Christians have/share a commonality.
One must, as Jesus said "do the will of his Father", or else be refused entry at the 'door. And as millions are familiar with the Jesus quote; "I Am The Door"
I have wondered many times over the past 50 years, Why are there so many Churches, if they all use the same Instruction Book? It would be hilarious to watch them play Football... ; )
why care? it matters to millions.
Because It's Sunday <----'They 'even messed with the Sabbath/Seventh Day
