Starting Friday, New Yorkers will be able to pull up a code on their cell phone or a printout to prove they've been vaccinated against COVID-19 or recently tested negative for the virus that causes it.
One of the selling points is that people "will be able to prove their health status with a digital QR code – or "quick response" machine-readable label." They'll need to download the "Excelsior Pass app", enter their
name, date of birth, zip code and answer a series of personal questions to confirm their identity. The data will come from the state's
vaccine registry and also will be linked to testing data from a number of
pre-approved testing companies. Does this sound like a Socialist program to anyone? Does putting your name and a lot of other personal information about yourself into a registry that will follow your every move sound like a good idea?
Cuomo is gung-ho to get this program up and running ASAP in NY. Now that's just plain scary to me!! He's calling it the "Excelsior Pass."

Papers please.
Why can’t the people just show the card that they give you when you get vaccinated? Once everyone in the country has had the opportunity to be vaccinated, I hope the airlines start requiring people be vaccinated before they are allowed to get on a plane.

Because they want you to put your name, address, birth dayt and other personal information in a vaccine registry...where you will be followed wherever you go. They want it to be in a passbook - like the one you use to travel to other countries - only it will be for wherever you go in the United States. Whenever you present your passport, it will register in the data registry where you are, where you are going, what hotel you are staying at, how long you will be there and when you come back and how your good or bad your health is while you do all that. Eventually it will show what you eat, whether you drink alcohol or not...smoke or not...use sexual aids and just about every little thing about you that your passport will tell them. And then decisions will be made if you should hold a job or not, go to a ball game or not, be invited to places (like weddings, funerals and other parties). At some point, it just might tell if you should be living or not.

All of that can already be determined without a vaccine passport.

Except whether you've been vaccinated or not. Which will determine the status of your health. And whether you are qualified for a job or should be invited anywhere or attend ball games, concerts...or if you should go to church or not...etc.
If I don't get it, I will be shunned from society. Yet if I do get it, and have major lifetime complications from it, or even die from it, it's all on me. Because they have a disclaimer in case that happens. Why do you think you cannot sue the pharmacies, doctors, hospitals, etc. if something bad happens?
Right now I have a choice. If it turns out later that I no longer have a choice, I will accept the consequences...even if it means death. It's that important to me that I remain free.

What? I don't understand your question. (I am not vaccinated, and will not be.)
EmilyD wrote:

I didn't get all of your comment. Did you add to it. All I got was that it would show whether or not you are vaccinated. The rest of your comment did not appear until I got your response.
I thought you were advocating for the vaccine passport, to which I say to those who want us to have them, why would they care if I was vaccinated or not. If they are vaccinated, how could my not being vaccinated be of consequence, unless the vaccines are frauds to begin with!

I'm confused...when you quoted my reply, it is what I posted, so I don't know what you mean "did I add to it"
But anyway, yes I am wholeheartedly
against the passport. IMO, it is one of the many steps towards Socialism the Dems are rapidly trying to input so that by the time Americans (on both sides of the aisle) realize what is happening, it will be too late to do anything about it. That's why I said I will not become part of it - my freedom is much more important to me than living in a world without it. I would be like a mouse in a trap that has no way out. I would not survive the conditions.

Do you need it for the things I've mentioned before? Like needing it to get a job or go to a ball game or other public event, or eat in a restaurant? Do you need it to buy food at a grocery store? Do you need it to go to a dentist or doctor or a wedding or funeral? If you do, and you've become used to it, and it's not a big deal, then do you like living a Socialist life?
If it gets that way here, I will not do well with it at all.

You need it to scan in anywhere...
It's a useful tool...
Has nothing to do with socialism...

What if someone has not been inoculated? What do they do?
