In most LEAs a teacher or administrator can't be fired if he or she has tenure. My county had a system in which the teacher in question had to be observed by an administrator from the county, and if found to have a problem, they are given a year to improve, then observed again. Sounds fair to me.
Tenure is pure bull shit - a program devised to protect incompetent teachers and allow them to keep their bloated salary. I’ve known more than a few “tenured” educators and most weren’t worth a pint of cold piss. They were essentially paid to show up, do as they please, collect a paycheck and go home.
If tenure is so great, why isn’t it available to other professions - instead if just incompetent teachers/professors???
