The NEA is an invention of the Carter administration and we need to abolish IT too.

proud, Although my county wasn't represented by a " union", We did have a professional organization. The NEA did far more for the students than it did for the members. We did have the power to negotiate, but couldn't even mention the word "strike" at meetings. I belonged to the union when I worked in New York, but resigned when I learned that a single anti-Semitic hand out was found in a black neighborhood and duplicated over two thousand times , then handed out to the general public. I will say that I wouldn't want to belong to a county that didn't have some kind of teachers organization. I have worked in the city, rural county, high school, and middle school. Some of the administrators I have had as a boss were terrible, we would have no way to protest bad administration. Without a bargaining agent for teachers, there would be a much lower pay and benefit program, and fewer qualified teachers would be willing to teach.

I’m totally convinced you’re an airhead who pontificates on matters you know nothing about. In my 35 years in the teaching profession I have seen many cases of incompetent slugs in positions of authority screwing lowly teachers who dare to point out their incompetence. One of my principals was hired simply because she was the super’s girlfriend. She tried to fire me, but my union did some digging and found she didn’t even had a teaching credential much less an administrative credential and her boyfriend was forced to fire her.
Many cases like that.

Big, I taught at a private school. I t***sferred to the public school system because it meant a $ 14,000 raise. The NEA is a fine organization. It represents teachers, in a fair way. Like I mentioned before, It did far more for the students than it did for the members. It sounds like you don't believe in any kind of union for any worker. The American labour movement worked long and hard for the right to be represented. It won't quit now, because the far right doesn't want workers to have a say in compensation or any other issues!

You make my point. The system has been corrupted; it's top-heavy; it's unfair to people with teaching in their souls; no matter how unfair to teachers students suffer the most; it costs crazy amounts of money to support entrenched bureaucracies.

In most LEAs a teacher or administrator can't be fired if he or she has tenure. My county had a system in which the teacher in question had to be observed by an administrator from the county, and if found to have a problem, they are given a year to improve, then observed again. Sounds fair to me.

I can tell you I use to work for school system among lot other job & sk**ls . I even have two ( teachers ) in the family . They get all paid holidays off vacation days , summer vacation off an personal days & sick days off.
They are under contract so they get paid weather work or not
. Can get there pay check all at once for the year or half or every two weeks. They cannot be fired after 5 years get the Tender in. Takes lot fire them unless they do serious crime if even that. They may after years an years of complaints ship one to anther school but never fire them .
You just can't fire them for being a bad teacher or rude , nasty , pervert type thing . There Union is a social group & highly political an spoiled they don't even know what a Union really was for . I worked alot places an types people even drug addicts an drinkers that had more dignity an care about there jobs an others .
We (tax payers) shouldn't have to pay there pensions . They want kids doped up . They believe they have the worst job in the world an have no respect for the parents don't even want meet them an blame parents for there jobs. They treat the kids by the status of their parents .
I've seen one so dirty they had send home take bath (a woman ) sex with janitors, there's always problems an confusions with teachers with parents, other teachers , kids , there's always fights , spats , drugs . Was the most unprofessional place ever worked . I seen things that always bother me . The proud arrogance rudeness, spoiled , radicals no morals or ethics . Not to say there are a few good ones but most are worthless . It's no wonder our kids are stupid . There's a book the Deliberately Dumbing down of America by Charlotte T. Iserbyt great book ( think out print now ) but can download on line . She worked for US. Department of Education ( she don't waste words ether ) shows that they put America under c*******t education under President Reagan she has it documented in the book. She's has raised hell for years over this an still is unless she has died lately . I have the book heard her many years ago radio show a feisty lady . God Bless Her .
