A poll showed that conservatives were afraid to express their opinions while liberals weren't. That has always been the case. William F. Buckley once said that liberal intolerance wasn't just hostility to other opinions but astonishment that there even was another opinion. The belief was that it was impossible for someone to be simultaneously intelligent & conservative.
When I was at NYU, 1962-1967, the assumption was just that; if you were intelligent you were liberal. We had Viet-Nam War teach-ins. Of course, the speakers were overwhelmingly anti.
They had tables at each for those in attendance to send their congressmen and senators letters against it. I tried to send one advising mine to bomb Hanoi and mine Hai-Phong. A woman came charging around the table at me, with assault on her face! (FYI – I have changed my views about foreign intervention, since then.)
In 1980, as election day dawned, the pundits were all talking about a squeaker that would could go into Wednesday before we would know the results. All the polls had it as a dead heat between incumbent Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, with a large bloc of undecideds.
As is turned out, it was a landslide for Reagan. Just seven(?) states went for Carter. Carter conceded by 8 PM. Later, David Brinkley, at a roundtable groused, “What happened?”
What had happened was that the undecideds broke, heavily, for Reagan. Many admitted that they were hesitant to reveal that they favored Reagan.
As it turned out, Carter’s personal pollsters had given him the last minute bad news the night before. He’d had a staff meeting and when he spoke about the closeness of the race, he broke into tears. The staff immediately knew that something was up.
That’s the take home lesson on this. People are even more afraid today to admit they plan to vote for Trump. This is especially as evidenced by the flagrant assaults by Antifa & Black Lives Matter on conservatives.
This will come back to bite the Democrats in the ass. They’ll come to regret being nice to them.

I don't hesitate. Be that as it may......they will NOT hesitate to cast their ballot for
Trump in November and the country will hear from the silent majority.
