Surprised she didn’t think it was a noose and called the FBI.

And what gave you the idea she worked as a bartender after she got her degree???

Most students work at least a little and bartending a few nights fits well..

OK, I guess I was misinformed somewhere. I thought I had read that she had a law degree, but had not passed the bar. I would still like to find the kind of noun I'm looking for. Terms like moron, idiot, imbecile, etc that I am regularly called by various left wing posters doesn't really apply to the kind of leftist to which I'm referring.

Glad you posted that J, I know only a little about AOC... turns out she is more accomplished then I thought..

In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez

Ocasio-Cortez may have have not won first place at ISEF, but her efforts didn’t go unnoticed. MIT was apparently impressed enough with her work that they named a small asteroid after her.

A spokesperson for the university told us: “She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with two majors in International Relations and Economics. Latin Honors awarded was cum laude that is not tied to an individual major but the degree.”

A spokesperson for the congresswoman added: “She was awarded a double major [degree] in both International Relations and Economics.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011.

Shows just how worthless most degrees are today. When asked a question about Palestine she didn't know it wasn't a state or country. Her idea on how to pay for her ridiculous Green New Deal was I don't know or care how we pay for it. She's for defunding the police which I am sure your anti-American self is for. She hates this country and is a puppet of the far left. She ran because a group of leftists picked her out of a bunch of left wing applicants and decided she'd be the easiest to manipulate. What good was that double major? You just are impressed because she doesn't love her country; just like you

J, at time I worry about you and Radiance.. both seem to be losing it..

AOC came from a wealthy architect daddy..think she had money to do as she wished for as long as she wished. dad died but she has many accomplishments and if in doubt , read up on her in other then the alt-media..

More to the point.. ;you and most on the right of OPP, seem to think that "defunding" the police means getting rid of the police dept..

while such a large group of people, we can probably find some who want that, the vast majority are in various modes of not ending the police, which would be beyond stupid. but in using some of the money from police funding to fund other programs..

That brings a large number of opinions and how to apply the removed funds.. each has an argument to make. In Minneapolis the city had nine members support the idea, which is enough to be veto proof.
they will be in discussions for months if not years and how it all ends is still a mystery..

as for myself.. you assume I am for disbanding the police.. not at all, no way.. dumb thing to do.

Of the nine members pushing "refunding" in MPLS, i have no idea what the specifics may be.. probly have nine different plans from the 9 people.

But remember the uniting goal is ending police brutality.. a needed ideal..

FYI, the new green deal was a possible plan for the future and nothing more..

Nothing you stated was accurate. Defunding the police is actually disbanding them or at least units. Your own loons in the Minneapolis city Council voted to disband the police force. Unless all news agencies are wrong. I don't have to read up on her fool. Ive seen her interviewed. She's an educated idiot. She has no real accomplishments that amount to anything. You are such a lying lemming I now remember why I ignore you.

J, I know you hate education and any idea which does not come from whatever you source maybe, but this is an article you to look at, follow the link and read another POV..

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2020/06/19/what-does-defund-the-police-mean-and-does-it-have-merit/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CDefund%20the%20police%E2%80%9D%20means%20reallocating,does%20not%20mean%20abolish%20policing.

“Defund the police” means reallocating or redirecting funding away from the police department to other government agencies funded by the local municipality. That’s it. It’s that simple. Defund does not mean abolish policing. And, even some who say abolish, do not necessarily mean to do away with law enforcement altogether. Rather, they want to see the rotten trees of policing chopped down and fresh roots replanted anew. Camden, New Jersey, is a good example. Nearly a decade ago, Camden disbanded (abolished) its police force and dissolved the local police union. This approach seems to be what Minneapolis will do in some form, though the nuances are important.

Different from abolishing and starting anew, defunding police highlights fiscal responsibility, advocates for a market-driven approach to taxpayer money, and has some potential benefits that will reduce police violence and crime. Below, I outline some of the main arguments for defunding the police.

dvocates for the defund movement like Phillip McHarris and Thenjiwe McHarris argue that shifting funding to social services that can improve things such as mental health, addiction, and homelessness is a better use of taxpayer money. This approach further enhances the push to decriminalize and destigmatize people with mental health conditions and addiction problems. Ever since the overcriminalization of people addicted to crack cocaine in the 1990s, some scholars, practitioners, and policymakers have said that this shift is long overdue.

HUH? If what you say: "'Defund the police” means reallocating or redirecting funding away from the police department to other government agencies funded by the local municipality'" what is going to happen to the department that is losing the funds? If it doesn't mean "abolishing" the department, what DOES it mean? You say it doesn't mean to abolish a department (your words: "Defund does not mean abolish policing.") and then go on a give an example of how abolishing a department was a very good thing (Camden, NJ). Make up your mind!!

"Defund" means to prevent someone or some group from receiving all funds. It doesn't mean "part of the funds." So if the Dems are doing what you say they are, and voting to defund a police department, do you expect that the policemen whose department is being defunded will just continue to work for free? Will the cars they need, or the dispatchers people call for help or income for them and their families and all their other expenses they need to do their jobs just fall out of the sky?

The same thing applies to "shifting funds" as it means the same thing. Shifting "part of" the funds might be acceptable to some, but it should be specified that not all of the funds that are going to one place will be "shifted" somewhere else.

If what you are trying to say is that police departments should be allocated less money, then SAY that.
