A mask may not keep you from getting the virus. Viruses are REALLY tiny. When I was in school they used to call 'em "filterable viruses" because they went through filters that stopped bacteria. And if viruses can get through those kinds of filters, they obviously can go through a mask like a hot knife through butter. BUT!!! A mask may keep you from spreading it to other people.

It may be that there are other Corona Viruses that cause mild diseases, but are similar enough to this C19 that the antibodies that our bodies make against them may also help fight off C19. If so, then that may explain why some people carry the virus but do not get very sick. But those folks will sneeze or cough and spread the virus to people who will get sick. So use the mask to keep your sneezes to yourself and be considerate of other folks. The quicker we get this virus under control, the quicker we can safely open the economy. South Korea and China both opened too soon, both had sudden surges in infections, and both have had to close down some hot spots again.

He never said masks were not useful. He said he didn’t want to wear one or didn’t buy the need to wear one for himself given the measures taken to protect against the coronavirus in the White House.

He left at your choice, want to wear one where it, don’t don’t worry whatever the consequences are falls on your shoulders.

That is why most schools teach driver's education, and why states require you to pass a driver's test before they give you a licence to drive. That's like the mask. Stay safe and healthy.

How did common sense health measures and consideration for other people ever become a political matter?

I have read a little about psychology and estimate that this individual is again practicing the "transference" that Freud writes about.
Trump bears a resemblance to someone who mistreated him in his school days or at home. He suffers from inverted Stockholm syndrome, which has become obsessive compulsive, mutating into TDS. I read that some states are doing away with the 'drivers test' - just take the written test. But the applicant has to have had a learner's permit for 6 months (some states) or a year, and have the parent/guardian sign to verify they have had at least 40 hours of supervised driving.
