My apologies, I should have worded my question better. I don't really care what Dr. Fauci said except his statement made me wonder. Is it possible for a virus to have one-way interspecies transmission? Are there any known examples? Is it common? Rare?

I've looked a little on the internet but oddly can't find anything. Maybe I'm searching on the wrong phrases, I don't know.

It is my understanding that some big cats in a zoo tested positive but it was determined they couldn't transmit the virus to humans. They think a handler gave the virus to the cats.

Thanks. Do you know how they determined the cats couldn't transmit the virus to humans?

I read that story too. Apparently the big cats were housed together, one lion and several different species of tiger and one of the keepers may have spread it to the cats. My guess is that since the other keepers handling the big cats did not develop the virus they assumed that it was not transmisable that way. I doubt that they injected the other cats with the blood of the cats that got it after they separated the affected from the unaffected. Nor did they inject the other keepers with the blood of the sick cats.

At one of the press conferences last week, Dr. Fauci stated that people can transmit coronavirus to dogs, but dogs can't transmit it to people. Does that make sense?

NO

No, there was no explanation. I guess those magical "experts" who've been keeping all of us informed figured it out, sooo. I also saw an article that a couple of house cats have contracted the virus from their humans. So far I haven't seen any stories concerning dogs.
