A Complete List of Trump’s Attempts to Play Down Coronavirus
He could have taken action. He didn’t.

President Trump made his first public comments about the coronavirus on Jan. 22, in a television interview from Davos with CNBC’s Joe Kernen. The first American case had been announced the day before, and Kernen asked Trump, “Are there worries about a pandemic at this point?”

The president responded: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

By this point, the seriousness of the virus was becoming clearer. It had spread from China to four other countries. China was starting to take drastic measures and was on the verge of closing off the city of Wuhan.

In the weeks that followed, Trump faced a series of choices. He could have taken aggressive measures to slow the spread of the virus. He could have insisted that the United States ramp up efforts to produce test kits. He could have emphasized the risks that the virus presented and urged Americans to take precautions if they had reason to believe they were sick. He could have used the powers of the presidency to reduce the number of people who would ultimately get sick.

Test kits are fine but how do you put together a test kit for an unknown, never seen before virus? It's the same with vaccines, it takes time to SAFELY and EFFECTIVLY put either together.

President Trump acted very quickly in pronouncing the travel ban with China. What you're not thinking about is that this thing, to us, jumped up from no where and no one knew what it was. China did the world no favors by not announcing this thing earlier. We didn't even know about it until it was already in our country.

You seriously need to quit cherry picking and shading information as you lose creditability when you do. Mike

Trump's response was completely adequate and appropriate. He even consulted the CDC and Dr Fault early on. In fact it was y'all haters who criticized him for wanting to halt flights inbound from China. Hypocrite. His "playing it down" was a part of a good "remain calm and don't panic" effort which you haters and the media countered with your idiotic fake "sky is falling" coverage/fiction. He has certainly done more in the face of this than previous admins!

President Trump's detractors are very good at leaving out pertinent information that doesn't track with their agenda. Witness the MSM's handling of news. They simply ignore that which doesn't wear well for them.

test kits were available while trump was still insisting we only had a dozen or so cases.. ready for use ...
But trump wanted a pile of more money.. so he made his son in law in charge of kits America would use, so no kits for us until they were ready.. now, two weeks behind Italy as the poorest responder..

yes, China should have made more of this from the git-go..

Yeah, tell us Trump wasn't criticized by the democrats for halting travel in to the US from China and other places early on in January. Tell us how Obama's "pandemic response team" had stockpiled ventilators for something such as this, were it to ever happen again after the 2009 out break of H1N1.

My gizzard says Trump has done just fine even while being impeached by you leftist idiots. What a perfect time that was for a viral out break!

I am glad to hear that willy..

just have to ad.. my adviser, the kid, also added that the money, whatever the local scene was like was controlled by the big boys who play with the market ..

So, we may get the pooch screwed anyway.. hope not..

More of the local.. back in 2010 Minnesota led the nation on job creation... by 2012 or so we ran out of people and had the hiring bonus and perks that far ahead of much of the country..

that shortage of labor is still a problem according to the business pages of the city papers..

But it is good to hear any upsurge in biz anyplace..and Texas while I thought of as nearly always growing, it is good for you .. nice..

Impeachment was fine,, to expect the Republicans to have the balls to remove him was dumb..

trump will move on to be the shanker on the ass of America for all of history,, the mystery of the greatest election snafu in all our history..

Your attempt to make any of this pandemic the fault of President Obama shows your ODS.. You people are beyond hope, America could die and you would be happy because all the liberal would be unable to vote..

Your ignorance at implying that I am faulting Obama for this is just that, ignorant. I am faulting your Trump hating media for causing the panic and misinforming the public in an effort to once again hurt Trump and hopefully for you, win in 2020. That should clear it up for ya!

I do wonder, however, if the media, in their "get Trump" frenzy, ever thought they would also adversely effect the lives for so many and crash the economy as they have done!
