There have been programs to help the poor for more years than I have been on this planet (70+). The programs are designed to give them a hand up not to continue with hand outs. Many of those “wealthy” people do lots of philanthropical work and don’t want recognition for it. Without those wealthy corporations hiring people where would we be? Do you have a problem with athletes making millions to play games?
I know I do but that’s life.
I have met lots of people during my working years that were drawing some sort of assistance, mostly unmotivated and not the first generation on assistance. I have worked in the grocery industry, communications and law enforcement. My ex-mother-in-law had 7 children with 3 different fathers and wasn’t hurting for food, in fact she downed her 6 pack of Coors on a daily basis and encouraged her children to apply for welfare.
Socialism is the first step of enabling those that aren’t motivated to change their life, choices!
Oh and by the way your insinuation of me being a racist is hysterical. I guess back in the late 50’s (before equal housing) my family must have started the petition to keep ourselves out of a predominantly Anglo Saxon neighborhood and I used to call myself derogatory names at school.
I know and have seen and experienced racism. Have you? Perhaps during the years of affirmative action.

Also tax cuts stopped and taxes raising every time we turn around crying about mass shootings but have no compassion for the 100's of thousands unborn babies killed in abortions every year !

4430,

Now, now that’s not what he means, you’re putting the wrong spin on it, lol.
You pretty much summed it in a nutshell.

Yes we have come a long way from our wealthy robber barons & monopolies to our socialist security many working people rely on... We will always require a balance between labor & management... trump & your opinion are both old school failed trickle-down BS from a time when we were productive people. it's all stock market gambling on the big boys now... Newtons law of gravity may seem complex but to simplify on earth what goes up must come down... trump has broke the bank to provide a false economy in an already stable economy ...

emarine,

deflect much, let's hope people on welfare aren't playing the stock market. I'm sure in your opinion obummer had nothing to do with the lack of productive Americans. Didn't he say to small business owners "you didn't build that"? He also applied business stifling regulations, how many trillions did obummer add to the deficit?
You're right about Newton's law, President Trump is bringing the ivory tower you dems/libs/progs put obummer in down. You're right President Trumps done quite a bit to stabilize the economy, more jobs, unemployment down, better trade deals for the US, we are no longer paying the bulk of the cost to protect the free world, less people on food stamps and government assistance, the list goes on.
Unfortunately your hate for President Trump is rendering you blind.
Glad to see you got off the racist allegation, like gun control know your target before you pull the trigger

LOL - I'm fine. I've never applied for food stamps and probably never will. My concern is for the people that need them. I guess that's an unfamiliar sentiment for folks on the right.

Yea, the staging crap from both sides is rather insane, that's usually out there a bit for my tastes.

C'mon.....both sides ignore the crap our sides say....as a rule, you never eat your own so it will generally get a pass.

psst... (they don't know what socialism is)

...which I guess that explains why so many Americans can be so scared of it despite the fact that socialism has been ingrained into our political system and our daily lives for over a century now. I'm not "into" socialism as a ideology either and I would never identify as a "socialist" because the way I look at it... socialism and capitalism are like salt and pepper. Every kitchen ought to have both and most countries in the world today, including our own do. So while I'm not a "socialist" per se, I'm not freaked out about it either.

But I do understand the demonization of socialism by those on the right. They use "socialism" as a specter to scare people away from any effort to solve human problems with government solutions. The reason for this has always been the same and it has to do with an aversion to your main point... the sake of humanity.

Humanity is not always profitable. When poor people get sick for instance... In a pure capitalist society they basically pay what they have until they die. But when the government steps in to help them out, they are no longer forced to give up the last of their spare change and that's a profit loss for the capitalist.

So they try to convince the voters that any government-funded service for the needy is a form of socialism (which is basically true) but once that buzz-word connection is made, a cherry picking of historical references where "socialism" is associated with disasters like Stalin take the narrative to its final conclusion... that government-funded programs lead to gulags.

For people like me (and I'm assuming you as well) socialism is NOT a main focus... humanity is and I'm still waiting for someone on the right to come up with a better idea than tax-funded services or letting people die when their money runs out.

I don't believe ANY of those murders were "staged". I think you are either over-estimating the political movement or under-estimating the criminal investigation.

Yeah, I know. That doesn't mean I can't point it out when it happens though ;)

As a matter of fact I wasn’t. I WAS a take my country back voter when I saw what obummer was trying to do to the country.

What do you think he was trying to do to our country? I'm asking because I hear so many people say that and yet they never seem to have a real answer. Most times, they just rattle off a list of seemingly inconsequential incidents, like how he didn't salute a soldier properly or they launch into the abundance of unproven conspiracy theories. But if you could just explain to me what you think he was actually trying to do to our country, please do.

Hadenough wrote:

When he started his BS racism and put targets on the backs of LE with his rhetoric. “That could’ve been my son” crap before he had all the facts.

I vaguely remember the quote. But I don't remember him putting targets on anyone's back. Trump is actually the first president in my lifetime that actually did that when he released the name of who he thinks the whistleblower is to his base, which is a violation of the whistleblower protection laws BTW.

Hadenough wrote:

He even went so far as to invite the BLM movement to the WH after they marched down streets shouting “What do we want? Dead cops, when do we want them? Now”. Those are traits of a real leader, I don’t think so. I don’t recall President Trump inviting the KKK to the WH, in fact he refused endorsement by david duke.

BLM is a peaceful movement and if anyone was chanting about dead cops it wasn't under BLM direction. I don't know why you're comparing them to the KKK... BLM is a grass roots political movement, the KKK is a registered terrorist organization with a long proven record of terrorist activity that BLM simply doesn't have. So is it just the Kool-Aid? Is that why your comparing them... because there's a lot of white racists that desperately want you to think the black people are just as bad. I will agree they can be just as racist as white people but they don't have anything close to the KKK.

Hadenough wrote:

I don’t remember seeing conservatives tearing down or demanding removal of statues that were part of our history.

That's because the people they hate never had a chance to erect any such monuments. That being said I do tend to side with the conservatives on this particular issue.

Hadenough wrote:

I don’t agree with the philosophy of some of those people honored with statues, but a civilized nation learns from their mistakes and past history, you can’t erase it.

I agree.

Hadenough wrote:

Did I forget to mention I am a minority,
Racist, really?

Since when do you have to be a majority to be racist?

Hadenough wrote:

Look at the positive direction we are heading in, unemployment in minority’s down, less people on government assistance and so much more. Unfortunately you’re blinded by your hate for President Trump, and refuse to see the good.

Have a look at my previous post on this thread... https://www.onepoliticalplaza.com/tpr?p=3099437&t=172380. I pretty much destroyed every point, leaving Trump with no accomplishment other than stacking the courts.

Probably as much as you ignore the violence and sedition from the people on your side I suppose....
