Well, I was. My kids are grown now. I have 4. I was divorced when my youngest was 10 mos. She's 34 now. But my my oldest and her daughter needed help so she and her daughter lived with me from 09 when her daughter was born to the end of 2017. Not a lot left to get ready for retirement. It's fine, I'm able, have a job I can do and 5.3 grandchildren I'm very close to. Would love not to work but I'm grateful I can

That’s real hard. The breakdown of the family has had devastating consequences.
Has your family looked into scholarships? Many private and parochial schools offer scholarships for low income families.
How much school choice is available in your state? Maybe the best you can do is shop for the best available.
If you’re active in a religious community you might be able to find more options there.
Two generations of single parenthood! Something has gone horribly wrong. I would suggest that your family find trustworthy counsel to figure out what happened. Break this pattern ASAP.
