It’s with great sadness that I watch another High School shooting. And it’s with absolute hate for the Racist Degenerate Trump Party and the Republicans in Congress that the only option is to do nothing as we sit and watch another sad day in America.

It makes me sick that you say Trump is making America great I say BS you people are a bunch of disgusting pieces of garbage when you can sit back and do absolutely nothing, you block any kind of legislation that just might minimize the Murdering of children in school.

We as adults are suppose to protect our children and this Republican Party just want to adhere to the NRA who donate millions of dollars to the GOP. When the hell does all this stop.

AF1 - In this particular case, it's hard to pin the blame on the NRA or their Republican supporters. The offender used a .45 caliber hand gun which is not on the list of weapons typically targeted by gun-control advocates.

But I think it's worth noting that the number of victims in this incident is five. Two were killed and three were injured. After that the assailant turned the gun on himself and spent the last bullet.

So I think this incident is still a case for gun-control because it proves that a gun that is not targeted by gun-control advocates has a lower kill limit. Compare this to some of the other shootings that happened this year using weapons with greater kill capacity, like Odessa (8 killed, 25 injured), El Paso (22 killed, 24 injured), Dayton (10 killed, 27 injured)

I don't want to marginalize the victims of this latest incident but in the grand scheme of things, had the assailant used a military-grade weapon, a LOT more kids would probably have lost their lives.

And here is the point that I will make for the millionth time... There is virtually zero political support for banning all guns. Gun-control advocates are trying to find a compromise between our right to bear arms and the best level of safety that can be expected given that right. In other words, freedom is dangerous but it doesn't have to be insane.

Substituting is hard. After I retired I did subbing for about 15 years, 'till my wife got sick and I couldn't leave her alone. A few teachers leave no lesson plans at all! Not because they are sick but merely because they don't use any! I had one English teacher at our local high school that I would not sub for because of this. As near as I could tell, she just ad libbed every day. Many will do as i used to do and leave a movie. But most left good plans, and having spent 33 years in my own classrooms, I had experience in class management which many subs don't have. I once taught in a rural farming community, but I never worried about lice. Now days in Vermont, we have to worry about ticks.

I seriously doubt that he got any instructions from NRA. NRA is being demonized, and their current leadership is not of the best, having let themselves get painted into a corner. It isn't the same outfit it was when folks like Charleton Heston , Julian Hatcher etc were it's public face. NRA, like the ACLU, spends a lot of its resources on protecting a key part of the Bill of Rights. It also develops firearm safety courses, writes textbooks for those course, trains instructors to teach those courses, and may well be a major factor in the steady decrease in crime that you can find if you go onto the FBI Uniform Crime Reports.

We have had semi automatic firearms sinced the Winchester Self Loader came on the market in 1909. We have had semi autos with 30 round mags, since the M1 carbine was declared obsolete and released to the public through the DCM program about 1967. We did not have these tragic mass shootings. So there must be some other factor at work. If you go online and search "mass killings/drugs" you can find a great deal of evidence linking these horrible events to some rare side effects of certain,widely prescribed anti-depressant drugs. These drugs are also linked to the high rate of veteran suicides. While the drugs are very useful and help many folks with PTSD live better lives, they do have these rare side effects. When I asked my state rep about these drugs, he admitted that 'big pharma' "donates" far more money to legislators than NRA ever dreamed of. And this from a guy who has never seen a bill that violates article 16 of Vermont's Constitution that he didn't love and help sponsor! Are the pharmaceutical corporations pushing these drugs as they did with opiods? Should they be closely regulated? I don't know the answers to this, but it a goldmine for conspiracy theorists. "They" (whoever 'they' might be) couldn't scare us into giving up the 2nd amendment with "saturday Night specials" or "cop killer bullets" as such things didn't exist. But maybe they can scare us with mass shootings 'cause these things really happen, possibly because of these drugs. It's a lot easier to rule unarmed subjects than to lead armed citizens.
