Not right wingers, a lie to them is anything that doesn't fit what they already want to believe.

Lies are the things that state rhetoric to be facts that does not match proofs... you know, like Barr's four page report on the Mueller investigation? For decades the newspapers used to adhere to a standard of proof before publishing something, we are a better informed public for that standard.

Leave it to media sources to have to vette anything they represent to be facts. It's like an editor sitting on a report his reporter wants to print until he is comfortable it can be supported.

We are not a better country for there being no accountability for representing lies to an obviously gullible public. We need a period where people can know and trust that if something is aired publicly it has been verified and has provable sources and underlying facts.

We can do without the unproven rhetoric and conspiracy theories, they just confuse the truth and facts that can be easily proved.

At this point people going by easily available facts are being told these are lies in favor of what are lies that have no proof or can be easily fact checked. Something has to give and it needs to be lies being allowed as free speech, who needs them (besides Trump)?

If we can remove the ability of Congress to lie on the House floor it would be a big improvement. Making speaking on the House floor to be equivalent to being under oath.

The results of a new survey are truly disturbing. More than half of Americans want themselves, others, and the media censored by the government.

Unfortunately, instead of learning from history, people are actually asking for a repeat of Nazi Germany or the gulags of the Soviet Union.

The First Amendment, which guarantees Americans freedom of speech, should be overhauled to reflect current cultural norms, according to 51 percent of the respondents to a survey published by the Campaign for Free Speech.

The campaign is hoping to call attention to the dire state of Americans' preeminent civil rights with the poll, which breaks down opposition along gender, race, class, and educational lines.

History will continue to repeat until humans learn the lessons of the past. Censorship is always necessary for tyranny to thrive.

The younger respondents were, the more they supported overhauling the law to restrict speech.

However, college graduates were the least likely of all educational groupings to support the restrictions, indicating that the increasingly regulated speech environment at American universities may be backfiring in some cases and producing adults who cherish their rights because they know what it's like to be deprived of them.

What was also horrifying, is that over half of millennials believe "hate speech" should be against the law, though no definition of "hate speech" was given (and indeed the definition tends to vary given the time and place but Christians can be guaranteed Biblical views of morality will be considered "hate") during the survey.

Most of those who want a ban on such speech consider jail time an appropriate penalty, although female respondents were the least supportive of such draconian sentencing.

And it isn't just the free speech of their fellow Americans that some people want to be censored. They also want what is essentially, state-owned media.

In fact, 57 percent of respondents support government action against "newspapers and TV stations that publish content that is biased, inflammatory, or false," with nearly half of those agreeing such offenses carry a jail sentence.

That means the government will get to decide the official narrative, and those who have evidence otherwise or dare to speculate against the government would be kidnapped and forced to spend time in jail.

The media is not particularly well-liked in 2019, with the average American trusting the press less even than lawyers and members of Congress, and people over 65 years-old were the only group in which the majority opposed punitive government regulation.

But using the government to force the media to parrot the official narrative will only result in absolute brainwashing without any resemblance of the free-thinking that made society great left.

A majority of Americans want the government to decide what the truth is and then punish those who disagree.

If that sounds a lot like Communism, you’re right. But try telling that to today's youth.

Another survey recently conducted by the Victims of Communism and polled by the research and data firm YouGov, found that 70 percent of Millennials are likely to vote socialist and that one in three Millennials perceive communism as "favorable".

This is our future if something doesn't change soon.

All I can say is good luck. Here they still end sentences in prepositions "Where are you at?" And to get me to be PC hasn't happened yet so I guess it won't.

It's no surprise to those who would like the truth to be what we see in media that the side that would get stepped on is the side that speaks in unsubstantiated rhetoric, represents things as facts that it is easy to see are lies if they are simply fact checked. The right wants the lies they choose to believe to be protected as a freedom of speech. Those who are sick of people being lied to want it censored and cleaned up.

Spain has just passed a law allowing the Government to control Internet & to take it away if they feel like it. We have to watch out for things like this.
In my opinion, Spain is a fascist country on the way they treat the Catalan people is apalling.

People just want to be free of most government taxes and laws that make it hard to achieve your dreams and steals your money. They don't know better than you do, on how to spend your money or who you should vote for.

It is a strange thing that any country or area that was under the control of the Hapsburg family at any time in their history, seems to have a hard time making any progress toward democracy. That includes just about every country south of the Rio Grand River, the Philippines, Spain, the old Austro/Hungarian Empire.
It's was a good move when they kicked the last Hapsburg out back in 1918. Spain seems to have suffered more than most. I wonder how one family could cause so much misery.

Maybe they served the wrong god? Or thought they were appointed by their god to rule over everyone. Then they spread their seed among other kingdoms to perpetuate their power and control? That stuff creates idiots and lowers the gene pool.

This is the exact reason I have never supported the Department of Education or the Federal government being involved in education is any form. If the Feds are involved, it will always turn political.... and it has.
