Dangerous Trends: More Than Half Of Americans Want Government To Censor Speech
Mac Slavo ~ October 29, 2019
The results of a new survey are truly disturbing. More than half of Americans want themselves, others, and the media censored by the government.

Unfortunately, instead of learning from history, people are actually asking for a repeat of N**i Germany or the gulags of the Soviet Union.

The First Amendment, which guarantees Americans freedom of speech, should be overhauled to reflect current cultural norms, according to 51 percent of the respondents to a survey published by the Campaign for Free Speech.

The campaign is hoping to call attention to the dire state of Americans' preeminent civil rights with the poll, which breaks down opposition along g****r, race, class, and educational lines.

History will continue to repeat until humans learn the lessons of the past. Censorship is always necessary for tyranny to thrive.

The younger respondents were, the more they supported overhauling the law to restrict speech.

However, college graduates were the least likely of all educational groupings to support the restrictions, indicating that the increasingly regulated speech environment at American universities may be backfiring in some cases and producing adults who cherish their rights because they know what it's like to be deprived of them.

What was also horrifying, is that over half of millennials believe "h**e speech" should be against the law, though no definition of "h**e speech" was given (and indeed the definition tends to vary given the time and place but Christians can be guaranteed Biblical views of morality will be considered "h**e") during the survey.

Most of those who want a ban on such speech consider jail time an appropriate penalty, although female respondents were the least supportive of such draconian sentencing.

And it isn't just the free speech of their fellow Americans that some people want to be censored. They also want what is essentially, state-owned media.

In fact, 57 percent of respondents support government action against "newspapers and TV stations that publish content that is biased, inflammatory, or false," with nearly half of those agreeing such offenses carry a jail sentence.

That means the government will get to decide the official narrative, and those who have evidence otherwise or dare to speculate against the government would be kidnapped and forced to spend time in jail.

The media is not particularly well-liked in 2019, with the average American trusting the press less even than lawyers and members of Congress, and people over 65 years-old were the only group in which the majority opposed punitive government regulation.

But using the government to force the media to parrot the official narrative will only result in absolute brainwashing without any resemblance of the free-thinking that made society great left.

A majority of Americans want the government to decide what the t***h is and then punish those who disagree.

If that sounds a lot like C*******m, you’re right. But try telling that to today's youth.

Another survey recently conducted by the Victims of C*******m and polled by the research and data firm YouGov, found that 70 percent of Millennials are likely to v**e socialist and that one in three Millennials perceive c*******m as "favorable".

This is our future if something doesn't change soon.

What they want is lies censored, not speech. If people are too stupid to be able to figure out what the t***h is they obviously need help, don't they? The media has a responsibility to the public to fact check what they represent to be the t***h.

It's no surprise to those who would like the t***h to be what we see in media that the side that would get stepped on is the side that speaks in unsubstantiated rhetoric, represents things as facts that it is easy to see are lies if they are simply fact checked. The right wants the lies they choose to believe to be protected as a freedom of speech. Those who are s**k of people being lied to want it censored and cleaned up.

An accurate way to say that is that more than half the people want government to protect the t***h for a minority that doesn't know what the t***h is anymore.

What do you say to the current government censoring speech? Trump ordered all Federal agencies, especially the EPA, to delete all mention of c*****e c****e and g****l w*****g from their websites.

Show me substantiated proof of that.

What is t***h? What is a lie? Both are subjective. Both are constantly changing. Is anything not proven a lie and any speculation a crime? Who decides? Freedom of speech exists specifically to protect speech that some may find objectionable.

That Military/Industrial Complex that Ike warned us about is alive and well, and both the first and second amendments are under attack. A corporate run government finds it easier to rule ignorant, unarmed subjects than to lead knowlable armed citizens.

That may not completely mess up a computer or robot. There was a Sci Fi short story back in the 1950's (Galaxy Magazine?) about a space ship with a computer on board that was taking over control. Remember, this was a time when a "computer" in USAF, was a little round slide rule So the author was either very imaginative or was a time traveler. Anyway, one of the crew tells the computer "Everything I say is false." The computer couldn't handle that, and shut down.

And proclamations that departments can't release any information or facts to the public without it being filtered through the official lines. Scientists are being prohibited from publishing research data.

Not right wingers, a lie to them is anything that doesn't fit what they already want to believe.

Lies are the things that state rhetoric to be facts that does not match proofs... you know, like Barr's four page report on the Mueller investigation? For decades the newspapers used to adhere to a standard of proof before publishing something, we are a better informed public for that standard.

Who gives a damn, Lol

I think we would be better off if we are exposed to media information that was subjected to certain levels of fact based proofs, no more rhetorical opinions that have to relationship to facts.

Your first sentence is a lie which is easily verified. Still support censorship or is that only applicable to those who disagree with you?
