When they go to a restaurant they want to be waited on hand and foot but don't think the serving staff deserve a wage High Enough to actually have an apartment and food on their table if you ask him about it he'll say something stupid like all these are entry-level job so I guess that means if you work at these jobs you're expected to be homeless.
No one in America should be able to work 40 hours a week not have a roof over his head or food on his table and some kind of Medical Care.

In China many people work 80 hours a week and make do with the bare necessities.. They scrimp and space and pay amazing amounts of money to ensure their children have a better future than they do...

America used to be that way... Then there was a time of bounty... Now everyone is entitled...

The forty hour week is a great dream... It's over...

I guess so. But it does break my heart, most especially when kids are involved. I experienced that, but luckily always worked so we were able to stay in cheap weekly motels for a short time. It's a horrible thing

In any town large or small there are empty buildings that have been left to rot why can't the city do the repairs and use these for the homeless provide education to get the majority back on their feet put the others in a detox center get some mental health counseling and then move them to the I guess halfway house so the can get some training

Or some kind of rent control so people can afford housing.
Seattle raised their minimum wage to 15 bucks but there's no way you can live in Seattle for that! Same with a lot of big cities people in calf rent garden sheds for over a 1000 a month

I live in Maine and there is definitely a homeless/lack of affordable housing crisis. Most of the apartments are too expensive so there is a lot of roommate ads. Even rooms for rent are high...But, this summer we had some (illegals) immigrants (approx 150) come here and voila they somehow found housing for all of them. All the while the LEGAL CITIZENS are still living on the street and being told they don't qualify for subsidies or even short term help... I say deport them all and start over. Stop giving $$$, and plenty of it, to countries who want to kill us or only want our $$$. Let them take care of their own. CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME!!! Let's fix our own problems first like homelessness, drugs, food insecurity and everything else. Does this make too much sense???

Agree 100%, Patsaco And the reason for this is the simple fact that Americans are expected to PAY for everything, and illegals get it for free.
Part of the trap of homelessness used to be, and may still be, that you cannot collect welfare without a permanent address. So those that are homeless and need help can't get it. I dunno if that is still a law or not.

Teabag, your use of the word "Sissification" caught my eye...this week I heard a you-tuber say young North American men are losing up to 30% of their hand-strength.Piqued,I looked it up and,by golly,it's true.I don't know how to post links, but one source is the Journal of Hand Therapy, among many others.I'm an old tradesman, and my hands are shot, but people still know I'm a man when I shake hands.
Sitting to pee? Not yet...my knees are pretty bad, too.

What the heck??? I'm gonna have to look that study up

Think about it?

How many millenials do you know who prefer a hammer to a cellphone...

All that tofu builds up the estrogen too... Smaller junk = less hand strength... Chinese boys shake hands like two butterflies hitting second base for the first time

I tried to get support for a program in the mid to late 70s and very early 80s whereby inner city people, (especially those living in the "projects") could renew their neighborhoods and own not only their home/condo but a business. Many of the trades were out of work then. A thumbnail of the premise was that people could choose to either learn a trade or open a neighborhood business (day care center, deli, cleaner, repair shop, etc, etc). Then unemployed tradesmen would be paid scale to come in and renovate the boarded up stores and shops, and also the project apartments themselves, AND train those who wanted to become tradesmen and sponsor them. Also a satellite community college in the neighborhood with evening classes on business organization and different
The desired outcome would be that at least 75% of people would be glad for a chance to build sweat equity, have home and, if they chose, a business interest. The other outcome is that if people had hope, and a chance to make their places decent, they wouldn't tolerate the gangs and thugs. I had a 2 year projected cost ( at the time) of around 200 million. Could NOT get any support or interest.

On some level, I agree with you. But....

Our aid to other countries is done for our own interests.. in some form or other..

the housing for immigrants/refugee gets set aside before it can go on the open market..

Builders have little reason to build affordable housing when on the same land they control they can build the high end housing/apartments which bring them more return on the same land area..

At least that is how it works down in the cities..

Maybe we should aim for this..

This reusing the old building has been proposed many times. in only a few occasions has it been done..

the latest, just south of Mpls, is the old fort Snelling military housing.. these will be done over the protest of a developer who wanted them torn down so he could build new on the bluffs overlooking both the Mississippi and the Minnesota rivers..

Often a real reason that repairs are not feasible, but more often, someone want to cash in on new development.

If you are a Democrap, it makes too much sense. The Dems care more about wetbacks than veterans, or US citizens in any sort of need. I know Dems who won't give a vet the time of day until it's near elections, and then they stand in line for a chance to kiss our asses, hoping for a vote.

Of course not, the dem's want a permanent underclass, they will fight any efforts that will help raise people up, because once people own property & businesses and begin to learn & understand how stuff in the real world works, they will abandon the Democrat party!
