On a scale from 1–10

Reagan: 4. Sure he destroyed the middle class, and there was the whole Iran-Contra ordeal that would have been worthy of impeachment if Oliver North hadn’t lied to protect him. But at least he knew Russia was not trustworthy. He wasn’t a great President, but he played one on TV.

Bush Sr.: 5. Yes, the failing economy was the key reason he lost re-election, but mostly that was Reagan’s fault. He may not have accomplished much, but at least he stayed out of the way. He should have gone ahead and removed Hussein following Desert Storm when he would have had the support of Iraqis and their neighbors. Failing to do so cemented his reputation as a wimp.

Bush Jr.: 2. Yes he allowed the worst ever terrorist attack on American soil, and yes he responded by attacking the wrong country—twice. Yes, his economic policies almost led to a Depression. He spent a third of his term on vacation, came to power by opposing counting votes, lied to congress, instated torture, curbed the Bill of Rights. He probably should have been charged with war crimes. And he should have scored a 1, except there would have been no place to go down. And sadly, we have to go down.

Trump: 1. Only because I said 1–10. If negative numbers were allowed we’d be digging a hole with no bottom. He conspired with a hostile foreign power to attack our election. He spent his entire campaign making racist and misogynistic attacks, and offered to pay legal fees if his supporters would assault protestors. Since taking office he has backed out of agreements that protect our air and water, reneged on treaties with other countries, allowed North Korea and Iran to expand their nuclear programs unchecked, has cowed to Russia and has restarted the US-Soviet arms race, has flatlined a healthy economy, has spent almost 300 years worth of Presidential salary on more than 200 golfing trips—much of which went back into his own pockets, wasted money on an idiotic parade, is diverting money from military families and national defense to build a wall that will never be completed, obstructed the investigation into his corrupt dealings with Russia, has profiteered off of the Presidency, has boasted that he would accept illegal help from hostile governments again to get re-elected if given the opportunity, has told over 12,000 verifiable public lies, has suggested he should do away with elections and stay in office for life. And he is setting records for lowest approval ratings, highest disapproval ratings, most turnover in an administration, and most indictments in an administration. Sadly, I know I’m leaving things out.

On a side note, I can’t imagine with the state of the Republican Party now that we’ll ever see a Republican President score above a 5 again. I’m hoping that the next one will at least be better than the last two, but I’m not optimistic they’ll be as good as even Reagan or Bush. My optimism ends at hoping somewhere out there they have a future candidate who can score a respectable 3.
It is clear that we have to stop allowing anymore ... (show quote)

I agree with you about the first three. As I said yesterday, Trump is a completely different animal who has done what all before him wouldn't and couldn't do. Yes he isn't a stereotypical president, we didn't want that. What we wanted was a total outsider who would shake the shit out of this country at the very least. And I'm happy to say that is what we got.

Permafrost, it appears through your freedom to share your opinions you are also free to judge. Somewhere I heard "judgement is mine saith the Lord". I always thought that was/is good advice since without judgement there is no hate. The hater harms his/her self far more than anyone else. Not wishing to harm myself I adopted the no judgement rule as best I know how. Am I perfect at non-judgement? Of course not, just better than I was. I'm calmer and closer to inner peace than I was. Since I wish you inner peace and calmness I am sharing my opinion with you. Who knows, you may become better than me in the state of non-judgement. It's just my opinion as I have very few answers but many questions. You are free to be who or what you chose. Thank the U.S.A. for that. I just wish you well as one human being to another.

Let's rate our last 3 demorat presidents on a scale of 1 to 10: 1. Jimbo Carter "0"-- destroyed the Midde East and saw it turn into an Islamic terrorist area which vowed to push Israel into the Sea and destroy the Great Satan (us) 2. Bill Clinton-"0"-- Bill couldn't keep his manhood in his pants and instead of leading us was leading young interns into the oval office to smoke on his cigar. He assaulted women, raped some women, used his power to seduce women and was backed up by Hitlery while doing his dastardly deeds in office. 3.Bathhouse Barry Ovommit-"0"-- Barry was a kneebender, anti-American, pro murder, pro abortion, pro-perversion President who couldn't even produce a valid birth certificate, hid his scholastic records, was a member of the racist, hate America preacher's church, Jeremiah Wright and gave the Islamic state of Iran the okay to enrich uranium and supported the Islamic terrorists with $$$billions of hard cash.

Why don't you rate them I'm sure you will have no bias. So to keep it honest I will rate the last four democrat presidents.

obama Half honkie all donkey He went out the same way he came in lying his ass off "I'm proud to say I am leaving office with out scandle." He must of forgot I was paying attention . $878 billion stimulus The money was used to pay off the unions, his cronies and buy over 2,000 weapons for the worst bunch of murders in the Americas. Over 700 have been murdered by those weapons. He did it behind the back of the Mexican government. Holder found in Contempt of Congress but Republican enablers never followed through and not one of those murdered got justice.

He blamed Bush for his total failure of our economy when he was one of 3 men that are responsible 100%. obama, franks and dobbs ran interference for Rains, Howard, and Johnson making sure no investigation was done on Fanny Mae. When they could no longer hold the investigators back all hell broke out. Bankrupt. billions in the red but some how Rains, Howard, and Johnson had taken $250 million in bonuses. The court made them givve half back. and they say crime don't pay. For over a year I set without a job as the economy was dead and the billions pilfered from Fanny May found it's way into obama's was no construction Bush's 8 years the first 6 1/2 saw job growth and economic rise. It was when Democrats took over congress and messed with minimum wages the economy went south and stayed there. $878 billion and not one job.

Obama looked us in the face and told us he had to save the people of Libya from the evil Qaddafi who's prisons were over flowing with Al Qaeda. He also trained and armed his people who were holding their own against those terrorist. So obama waged war flying over 6,000 sorties of bunker busters and cluster bombs which made those machine guns and other small arms useless murdering 130,000 of the people he told us he had to save. Made drone jokes when he heard of Qaddafi's brutal death Leveled the richest country in Africa then handing it over to his ally Al Qaeda. But leave it to the enabler party that let that Oreo get way with his second genocide.

A few months latter the South Africa Lawyers Ass. put out a statement saying obama had murdered thousands of people all across Africa with drone attacks including 500 children. Since Congress wouldn't do their job the country of Malaysia would do their job for them when they found obama guilty of among other things genocide.

Obama then started using drones to murder Americans including American children with out due process or trial. I said I would do the last 4 democrats but that would take an 8 hard cover book set and I don't have the time and you leftist will never get a clue anyway . So I did obamas first 3 years The next 5 years were more of the same. Bill was a criminal and traitor just like his wife. Carter was an idiot that gave away Iran. Johnson helped Murder JFK and ended his presidential orders before JFK's body was cold. To sum it up, Since JFK democrats come in 4 groups. The criminals, the traitors, the idiots and the treasonous, criminal, idiots. My rating system goes from minus 5 to 1/2 but I didn't go to that low of a rating so I cant rate them on that scale.

NYT: The Reagan Boom - Greatest Ever

Almost everyone knows that the greatest depression the U.S. ever had was in the 1930's. It was known as the Great Depression, and its infamy merits a separate section in economics textbooks. But what was its counterpart? When did our greatest economic expansion occur?

We just had it. And it is still expanding, setting new records with each passing month.

We don't know whether historians will call it the Great Expansion of the 1980's or Reagan's Great Expansion, but we do know from official economic statistics that the seven year period from 1982 to 1989 was the greatest, consistent burst of economic activity ever seen in the U.S. In fact, it was the greatest economic expansion the world has ever seen - in any country, at any time.

The two key measures that mark a depression or expansion are jobs and production. Let's look at the records that were set. Creation of jobs. From November 1982, when President Ronald Reagan's new economic program was beginning to take effect, to November 1989, 18.7 million new jobs were created. It was a world record: Never before had so many jobs been created during a comparable time period. The new jobs covered the entire spectrum of work, and more than half of them paid more than $20,000 a year. As total employment grew to 119.5 million, the rate of unemployment fell to slightly over 5 percent, the lowest level in 15 years. Creation of wealth.

The amount of wealth produced during this seven year period was stupendous - some $30 trillion worth of goods and services. Again, it was a world record. Never before had so much wealth been produced during a comparable period. According to a recent study, net asset values - including stocks, bonds and real estate - went up by more than $5 trillion between 1982 and 1989, an increase of roughly 50 percent.

There are other important measures. Steady economic growth. As we begin the decade of the 1990's, we are in our 86th straight month of economic growth - a new record for peacetime, five months longer than the wartime growth of World War II and only 23 months short of the wartime record set during the Vietnam War in the 1960's. Most experts now predict that it will last right through 1990, and perhaps beyond.

Income tax rates, interest rates and inflation.

Under President Reagan, top personal income tax rates were lowered dramatically, from 70 percent to 28 percent. This policy change was the prime force behind the record breaking economic expansion. Interest rates and inflation also fell sharply and, so far, have stayed comfortably low - a further indication of the power and pervasiveness of Mr. Reagan's economic policies. The stock market. Perhaps the key indicator of an economy's booms and busts is the stock market, the bottom line economic report card. And here the record has been striking. During the period from 1970 to 1982, the stock market barely moved. The Standard & Poor's index of 500 stocks inched up about 35 percent during that entire period. But starting in late 1982, just as Reaganomics began to work, the stock market took off like a giant skyrocket. Since then, the Standard & Poor's index has soared, reaching a record high of 360, almost triple what it was in 1982.

There were other consequences of the expansion. Annual Federal spending on public housing and welfare, and on Social Security, Medicare and health all increased by billions of dollars. The poverty rate has fallen steadily since 1983.

When you add up the record of the Reagan years, and the first year of President Bush - during which he has faithfully continued Mr. Reagan's economic policies - the conclusion is clear, inescapable and stunning. We have just witnessed America's Great Expansion.

The Reagan economic expansion was not perfect and we will never have one that is. The Federal budget deficits were too high and still are, too many Federal regulations lay unreformed and the trade deficit is worrisome.

In fact, the Reagan expansion may not have been the best economic expansion in history, for every economic expansion must be judged by many criteria. But if we look at the sheer size and immensity of it, at its scope and power, then it cannot be denied that it was the greatest.

The full impact of the powerful economic recovery that President Reagan launched during the 1980s is still unfolding.

Mr. Reagan's expansion provided the financial resources to allow the U.S. to build up the combat capability of its defense forces and to begin blazing the new trail for a protective missile system. This, in turn, convinced the Soviet rulers they could never defeat the U.S., and today the Soviet Union and the U.S. are busily engaged in nuclear disarmament as peace breaks out in country after country throughout the world.

Equally important, it proved beyond doubt to all (except perhaps for a handful of left-wing faculty members in our best universities) that capitalism is superior to Socialism and Communism. Our economy is the guiding beacon for all those countries that are ripping apart the ruthless collectivist regimes that ruined the lives of their people for so long.

One thing the Marxists got right: Economics is a powerful determining factor of history. But Marxists never dreamed it would be the economics of Ronald Reagan and all those capitalists that would prevail in the end.
b NYT: The Reagan Boom - Greatest Ever /b br br... (show quote)

Thank you for that Blade Runner. Reagan is still the benchmark for what a good president should do for America. Even though lefties, like permie, disparage him for being just a former Hollywood actor. And elitists called him an amiable dunce. HAH!
Reagan also won the Cold War without firing a shot! Not only did he refuse to buckle to the overwhelming nuclear disarmament movement, he went in the opposite direction and proposed to take the war to outer space with Star Wars.
Trump shows the same kind of resourcefulness when it comes to solving America's problem. As a former world class developer of high rise skyscrapers, he knows that to get the job done, you have to solve all problems you encounter. So Trump has been willing to renegotiate unfavorable contracts so America isn't being taken to the cleaners any longer. And from what I'm seeing, his efforts are paying off handsomely. China, Mexico, Canada, even the EU have agreed to a more level field than before Trump became President. We're now the world's leading economy.
I predict that after 2024, Trump will take his place alongside Reagan as one of the 5 greatest Presidents in US history.

You forget the dumberthandirtcrats don't care about the economy and the only thing they fear is a job finding them. Their goal is destroying the Constitution and our freedoms. Not their voting base but the tyrants. Their voting base is made up of the 'something for nothings', the 'you owe mes', and the sub-humans clinging to the bottom link of the food chain. They always vote for who promises the most even if it's the Devil him self. With so many clowns wanting to be known as the loser of the 2020 election their mouths are flowing with both hollow promises and their true feelings on what the Constitution is, a document to destroy for their personal gain. The idiot from New York made it quite clear on our right to protect our self last week, a rabid tyrant who has destroyed that city.

I have tried to watch their debates but all it has shown me is how pathetic many people are to believe this none sense as they promise the world while they talk and scream on destroying our freedoms. That doesn't matter to ones that traded their rights for security a long time ago. History repeats it's self because of this type of people. The same lines, 'For the children, Trump, racist, homophobic, white supremacist. These democrap debates would get better ratings if they had counters at the bottom of the screen that advanced each time the words were used. They might get a few Americans with double digit IQ's watching, everybody needs a good laugh. Which brings to another one of their phrases. 'What's ya laughin 4?'

Maybe. I see that you have not disputed any of his comments. That indicates you accept them as true, and you exhibit mind numbing hate.

The last 3 democratic presidents were much worse. Why did Obama feel the need to go around the world and apologize for Americas greatness? Both Obama and Carter will/have gone down as 2 of the worst presidents EVER.
The US has nothing to apologize for, except for being the most free and diverse country EVER. Clinton was womanizing lieing scum bag...#me too would have loved him. Trump is at least standing up for the country.
