The cognitive dissonance is great in the old man. Dan McCready is an Iraq war vet. Captain bone-spurs calling such folks 'disloyal' can only make sense if his thoughts do not connect in his brain.
I know it won't make any difference to Trump supporters.
But from where I sit, Trump Republicans who continue to malign Democrats as stupid, or less than honest, or downright anti-American have been eating a lot of hypocrisy pie.

I think those who color all democrats the same way will just ignore that pie they should be eating a piece of.

Do you think "Sanctuary Cities" is in keeping with American's best interest? Are you in favor of no borders? How about releasing criminals into the general population?
Just asking.

These loaded questions have nothing to do with the topic. How about you discuss how a President can call veterans who run as Democrats disloyal. Make sense to you?

Of course I did. Vets have the same diversity of opinion as the rest of us. The POTUS came to NC last night and stumped for Dan Bishop while bashing Democrats as disloyal. Bishops opponent is a Democrat and Iraq war vet.
There has to be cognitive dissonance in his brain to be able to do that. Either that or he doesn't know that 'disloyal' isn't about him.

As a matter of fact I do sometimes wonder how someone who voluntarily raised their right hand and put their ass on the line for the republic could vote - much less run for office as a - democrat. From where I sit there is an enormous disconnect between swearing to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and to "bear true faith and allegiance to the same" and pretty much everything the Democratic party stands for these days. Please note that both parts of that oath are in the oath both enlisted members and commissioned members take. Under 18, U.S. Code §3331, all federal officials - elected or appointed and excluding POTUS - swear the same oath. How someone can swear such an oath before witnesses and then go about implementing the Democrat platform without being forsworn is beyond me. To me such a one is without honor. Addressing or referring to anyone working to forward the modern Democratic Party's stated goals as "honorable" seems terribly oxymoronic. How can anyone so forsworn be considered "honorable"? Do we now honor people who, themselves,
HAVE no apparent honor?

I respect Mceady's service, but that alone is no reason to elect him. Because you are defending him, I feel that you should be able to tell me how he stands on immigration along with santuary cities. What was his reaction to the 500 criminals that was released in his state?
BTW, President Trump was clear, it is their stand on illegals that he called disloyal to the USA.

As a matter of fact, IMO, your enormous disconnect comes from sitting in a bad place, and it seems that much is beyond you. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. But, recognize it for what it is...only an opinion.
I am reminded of the old sayin'..."Opinions are like a-holes. We all have 'em."
Oh, btw, newbie...a belated welcome to the forum.

That was one powerful comeback. Well written, thought out, and summarized.

What "bad place" is he sitting in? I think he has a point about the oath of office. When I enlisted each time and while a civil servant, I swore to protect and defend our nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Many people who have served believe that borders should be respected and when they are not, those intruders need to be rounded up, charged, fined, and returned to their point of origin at their own expense. Many of us see law enforcement in sanctuary cities who refuse to aid ICE in rounding up these individuals as breaking Federal Laws and should be replaced. Many of us are not in favor of providing all essential needs for illegals at the expense of our children, elderly, disabled, veterans, or our working class. Further, we believe those who aid illegals in their pursuit of invasion of our nation as an "enemy", the same that we vowed to protect everyone from. Do not misunderstand.....none of us are against immigration and we have no problem with providing for those who seek asylum. But, those people must come through our front door, not through a broken fence.

There's plenty of that to go around from both sides. For years, we've been hearing about the dangers of demonizing one's political opponents, and the corrosive and divisive rhetoric, so how do we deal with that? Double down on the demonizing, and corrosive and divisive rhetoric.

I was not defending McCready. I said nothing about his positions. I was questioning the the POTUS and his thinking process. In googling McCready's positions, I think he turns out to be a 'good liberal'. Does that make him disloyal? There are a number of vets who are running as Democrats. And the charge that Democrat veterans are somehow disloyal isn't new. Remember this from 2002? Triple amputee Vietnam vet was the target:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKFYpd0q9nEAs for 'stance on illegals'....seems POTUS has no issue with those who hire illegals. Still no charges against the MS. poultry plants raided recently that hired all those illegals. Another disconnect.
