I was not defending McCready. I said nothing about his positions. I was questioning the the POTUS and his thinking process. In googling McCready's positions, I think he turns out to be a 'good liberal'. Does that make him disloyal? There are a number of vets who are running as Democrats. And the charge that Democrat veterans are somehow disloyal isn't new. Remember this from 2002? Triple amputee Vietnam vet was the target:

As for 'stance on i******s'....seems POTUS has no issue with those who hire i******s. Still no charges against the MS. poultry plants raided recently that hired all those i******s. Another disconnect.

WCS, with further regard to Max Cleland, the subject of your link above and victim of GOP attacks....

I have yet to hear the President declare ALL Democrats disloyal. I hear him say that open borders and those that support them are disloyal. The link sent me to an ad......and in 2002, President Trump was not running for office.....

Employers who hire unauthorized workers can face civil penalties, with the penalties ranging from as low as $230 to as much as $9,472 per employee for a first offense, according to a chart on the Federal Register outlining rules and regulations of the Department of Homeland Security.
Fines for second and third offenses can be much higher and employers can face criminal charges if a pattern of hiring unauthorized immigrants is established. It is unclear what the penalties are for criminal convictions. The Koch Foods and thr parent company, A&B Inc are under investigation and they will have their day in court. By necessity, the wheels of justice must move slowly.

The attacks on Mr. Clelland were shocking to me. It was then that I realized that something was really amiss in our politics.

One of the interesting facts of our history is that many of the social and 'great society' programs were passed at a time when veterans dominated in Congress.

(see chart 4)

Wonder how they would have reacted to being labelled unpatriotic or disloyal?

A list of WWII vets who served in the Senate contains about equal numbers of Ds and Rs. I suspect none of them would take too kindly to their fellows being labelled disloyal.

We live in a strange and hyper-partisan time. I hope you are well, sir.

Uh oh! I'm one of those you believe should consume a healthy slice of prune pie. The reasoning for my belief is because to be a Democrat (progressive) and to support them financially, in spirit or otherwise, one must give "tacit approval" (intentionally or unintentionally) to the entire Progressive philosophy and agenda. Can't cherry pick only what one likes and disregard what they don't like.

Johnson's great society, while eagerly endorsed by many and whose intent was truly laudable, was a huge costly failure.

As a matter of fact, IMO, your enormous disconnect comes from sitting in a bad place, and it seems that much is beyond you. Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. But, recognize it for what it is...only an opinion. I am reminded of the old sayin'..."Opinions are like a-holes. We all have 'em."

Oh, btw, newbie...a belated welcome to the forum.

Yes, IMHO we all have aholes and they are all basically the same, and they accomplish the same mission, but there are no two exactly alike. That's why some like perfumed toilet paper and others can make due with a cob; some aholes are tougher than others. They have different tastes and diets, and when they have an intake of democratic agitprop the output smells pretty bad. Some think their s**t doesn't stink, but their farts usually give them away.

How about socialism? How about bankrupting the country by spending monies neither we nor our children have or ever have, to buy v**es from the lazy? How about free healthcare for all i******s but poor Americans can just die? The left will do anything and throw any American under the bus to obtain power. How about making American citizen's welfare be the first priority of the American government instead of a bunch of freeloading i*****l a***ns? Senator Warren is in the v**e buying business. She is offering Indians r********ns if they v**e for her. She is offering B****s r********ns if they v**e for her and she is offering ME $200 a month increase in my Social Security if I v**e for her. Do these people have no shame?

The have no shame, and less common sense. I have never in my lifetime heard such ridiculous crap being spewed in a campaign. Time to keep these "newbie" candidates out of the government and get rid of all that are already in government.
