Equality is basic to life, what the DOI guaranteed for all. "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is the basis of equality, our God-given rights. O'Reilly is either unconversant as to what liberty is or was just in attack mode as his network demanded.

you are guaranteed life unless your mother is a liberal and liberty if you don't piss obozo off and you can PURSUE happiness as long as you don't expect some one else to provide it for you

Of course I would like everyone have healthcare! On the same hand I don't feel my healthcare has anything to do with someone elses. I don't believe for a minute I should pay for anyone elses healthcare!!! I worked 70 hours a week or more for most of my life to help care for my family. We have never once asked for any type of hand out from anyone ever!! I had the better education in my marriage so it was agreed I could bring in the better paycheck I would be the one to work more hours outside the home. My husband worked full time and kept the home clean and did all the cooking, laundry etc. and it worked out fine. I was home for all the big events and holidays. Now you take someone who can't be bothered to get up and go to work even 4 hours a day and looks for everything to be handed to them. Tell me after all my sacrifices why I should pay for that person to have anything. The government taxes us for every single thing we do. Let them pay for those that want healthcare handed to them. They have taken tens of thousands from my family over the years. I've paid enough!!!! Everyone has the right to healthcare!! The type and amount they have is up to them!!!! I don't even want to hear about the struggles people face. We all have struggled. As I have told before my family ( mother and siblings) wound up in the projects in Brooklyn when my father deserted the 6 of us. My mother worked every waking moment to get us out of there. We all worked hard and we all got out!!!! It took years and years but we got out!!! We suffered and at times went to bed hungry . That was the fuel to keep us motivated. There is no excuse for looking for hand outs but laziness!!! Healthcare for all??? Absolutely!!! Pay for it yourself??? Absolutely!!!
Of course I would like everyone have healthcare! O... (show quote)

Great post....I can relate to the poor part...My dad left us when I was 5......I was raise by a single mother....It was tough but we mad it with NO hand outs of any kind....There weren't any projects in the south in the mid 40s to mid 50s...The first house I remember had no electricity, no running water, Mother cooked on a wood stove and we warmed our butts in front of the fireplace. Went to the outhouse when nature called, and took a bath in a wash tub....I was 16 before we had a house with hot water, or a shower or tub....Yep...I took a bath in a wash tube until I was 16....Never had a telephone or a car...Mother got both of those luxury's when i went into the army in 1966..So I know what poor means....The POOR PEOPLE of today...Don't really have a clue..They get almost everything from the Gov...And most of them don't even know how to raise a garden....Its gona be a bad day at Black Rock when the chit hits the fan and all the freebies go away....I am fortunate ..I have a piece of land with plenty of timber and water....and plenty of AMMO..And I know how to survive, and do with out.....Ill help those who help themselves..But the other loffers..Beware I'm a good shot thanks to uncle sam,and my grandad.....

I would like to know if you, as a conservative would like to see everyone in the country have healthcare?..I'm not talking Obamacare..I'm just curious if its something that you even would like to see, from a personal standpoint.

I'm a conservative. When I was unemployed and destitute a few years ago I hurt my back. I walked into St Mary's hospital in Reno. I was seen by a doctor, x-rayed, given a prescription and sent on my way. Took about 2 hours. It did not require a huge, expensive and inefficient bureaucracy to accomplish. What we had before wasn't nearly as effective as it should have been, and God knows both parties have had decades to address this, but what we have now is a power grab by the Federal Government that one day we will all regret. Healthcare reform should have come incrementally and should have been started many years ago. Our system was not so broken that it needed a huge, sweeping change like the ACA.

So...you take the money of the motivated and hard working and give it to the unmotivated and lazy. That is equality, yes?

I was raised in a poor place by an alcoholic, abusive mother and spent most of my teen and adult years doped up and locked up. I felt sorry for myself and blamed everybody but myself for my failures. When I made up my mind to no longer accept my own excuses and do something for myself I found out that even with my lousy work history and spotty record I was able to get by without government handouts. Unlike most folks, I fall through every safety net there is and had to live on the streets for a while, so I never developed the lifestyle of depending on government handouts, but I sure lived a defeated life until I quit listening to the voice in my head that told me I was inadequate.

These two posts are the reason the Tea Party is having a hard time getting traction with anyone but a fringe minority.

-Everything's Obama's fault.

-And anyone who wanted health insurance could have gotten it until Obama screwed it up.

Two completely false statements, just one-liners designed to provoke.

Have you no shame?

So who paid for your treatment? Somebody did-the doctor didn't go without getting paid and the hospital still had to pay for the x-ray machine and the copious amounts of electricity it uses.

This is why I paid $1,500 (or my insurance company paid) of a few stitches. People go to the ER instead of a doctor's office for basic medical treatment. And the ER is expensive treatment even without the burden of paying for people without insurance or money to pay for the care.

Fortunately for you, there wasn't anything seriously wrong with your back. Had there been, you would have seen the real problems of not having insurance. You get a pass on Er treatment, but without insurance, it's doubtful you would have gotten anything but a handful of pain pills even if there was a surgical fix for the problem.

Don't take this personal, but I don't like having to pay high insurance premiums to pay ER fees hiked up to help pay for those who don't. I call that an illegal taking, me being forced to pay for a bill I didn't incur.

The right seems to get riled up about paying for food and shelter for the poor, but don't blink when the pay $50 for a Tylenol pill at the ER. There seems to be a disconnect.

You are correct-politicians have had decades to deal with this problem and have done nothing. It reminds me of a line from "Charlie Wilson's War" where someone asks Wilson, a congressman, why congress seems to talk so much and do so little. "Well," Wilson said. "Mostly tradition."

Universal coverage is something that should probably be overseen by a private non-profit entity. It won't be easy, but is that any reason to not try? It's better than paying $1,500 for a few stitches or $50 for a pill.
