I think I disagree with this. First of all. most polls are written to get the response they want, not what people really believe. It also depends on who you poll and where that poll is taken as to the answers you get. I think most people in this country are center right. The progressives you mention are in the minority, but they also make the most noise. With the media acting the way it does and not reporting on most things properly, you get a wrong opinion of what is really going on and how people feel. I have taken a few polls myself and NONE of them have the answer I want to give. Even if I write it in, they just toss mine because I did that. Even if we write our views in the remarks section it means nothing. It is the answers to the question they are interested in. We had polls in the military at different times that had NO answers that anyone wanted to mark, but that was because they were looking for a given response. Same with these opinion polls they hand out. If you ever take one you will see exactly what I mean.

What a well thought out and diplomatic response. If I insulted you somewhere else on this site I will say now , it was okay then but not this time. With all this polls and stuff to look up on the internet I began to question my own objectivity. An interesting thing to look at is a bunch of studies on bias. They delve into why we think what we think and establish our views based on our bias. Just a little tip for self improvement.

As usual,, your figures lie,,,,

Demographics of gun ownership are relatively evenly split between the "right-wing" and the "wrong-wing"

A majority is a majority regardless of the name calling. You can bet the pollsters were very selective to get the numbers to come out that close.

Despite what the gun manufacturers and their "piss-bucket" carriers, the Republicans, would tell you, here are the numbers.

Gallup Poll, 2013

1. 49% of Americans want stronger gun control.

2. 37% want to keep gun control laws where they are right now

3. Only 13% are actual knuckle-draggers and want gun laws that are less strict (those would be the NRA mouth-breathing neanderthals).

The real problem with polls is no secret. WE all know that the answer comes first and then the polling is done. The questions and the domographics and the age groups and ethnicities are designed to produce the answer or get as close to the answer as possible so as to deminish the accuracy and shed doubt on the truth.
I will say some of the polls for the national elections are some of the most reliable polls. Reason being, is there is going to be reckoning of these polls when a national vote is counted. Those pollsters can not afford to be very inaccurate or percieved to be minipulative. Most of the other issues will never get a national vote and can therfore be minipulated.

I really like guns and hunting but the NRA makes every gun owner look bad. Why in the f##k does the average citizen need more than a 15 round clip. 15 is even more than reply needed to go plink or shoot a few rabbits. I admit I was a member but I called them and told them to quit calling and sending their anti american publication to my house.

When they weren't so mixed up in politics they were a kind of gun club. They built nice gun ranges and encouraged gun safety etc. When you send a magazine to someone's house with a picture of the president on the cover saying we should overthrow the government you are now no more than a radical idiotic fringe group. It's too bad.

You're right that was exaggerated. They do try to incite insurrection though. Some people read their magazine and consider it like the bible. They don't bother or maybe have the time or means to compare the information given. If they disagree with stuff , that's fine it's the way they try to get resolution that is bad.

I respect that but...I look at each topic from gay rights to increasing the minimum wage..and polls show that the the majority agrees with the left side of that particular issue....some issues are slightly like 55%.. But some like gun control...is like 80%...I'm not sure of any issues that are polled which leans right...but there might be some I'm not aware of

i question those polls,if the majority want gun controll it would have been done ,i think its more luke 8o% against.i havent seen any polls on gay rights but ive seen the votes and the only way this junk is being done is by fed judges.

just what is anti-american about nra . i read the american rifleman every month and the only thing that you could object to is the times that an armed citizen put a stop with some criminal because he has a gun.
