Just now....President Trump backs off Universal Background check...
I think its going to get him in a whole lot of trouble with Dems.....What do you guys think???
He's more worried about the NRA and Putin, he should be worried about the 80+ percent that support background checks and sensible gun laws.
Do you think he's worried about being in trouble with dems?
Why don't you try posting meaningful topics as opposed to you stream of consciousness? Do you really want to know what people think, or do you care about the reality of Trump's positions on gun control?

I don't think Democrats (or anybody?) believed him in the first place.

I think that he is giving up on the dems ever coming around to support him on anything.

Dems will hate him no matter what he does. If he signed on to a background check bill they proposed they would still hate him and want more. Background checks are for law abiding citizens. Criminals and those bent to evil will still find a way.

They will find a way or they will ignore the law and buy guns out of the trunk of a car.

[Irony Alert] Yes, there's no reason to have any laws since "Criminals and those bent to evil will still find a way".

We already have background checks. Until states upload data on "prohibited persons",
they will continue to fail, as they have many thousands of times.
Until states upload that information on an estimated 7 million "prohibited persons", they will continue
to pass even universal background checks.
Straw purchasers will not be stopped by any background check.
The Mexican government is the largest source of real assault weapons for the drug cartels,
background checks will never prevent that from happening.

President Trump, and all Americans, need to kick Congress in the a$$ and tell them to fully fund
the National Instant Check System"(NICS) by appropriating the funds for states to upload
data on the estimatedl 7 million "prohibited persons" currently NOT in the NICS!
The last AR I sold, last year, the first guy couldn't pass, the 2nd guy I wouldn't sell to and the 3rd waited just a little over five weeks to pass and then it's up to the seller if the gun changes hands.

That is reality. Gun laws are for law abiding citizens.

I think he caved to NRA pressure and not to a decision by conscience. It is all about winning for him and what is best for the country always takes second, or even third, place. As well as the innocent lives killed by gun violence. Put on a scale, one side American innocent people dead and on the other votes, his thumb works for the president. No contest. His base will be tickled pink.
