In terms of participation, the United States ranks 122 worldwide.

1) Should we try to change it?

2) Initially, we were an agrarian society that had to travel to the county seat to vote and for religious reasons couldn't travel on Sunday. That isn't the case today so wouldn't voting on Saturday be better as it would make it easier to participate?

3) Should states be required to open more polls in order to shorten the waiting time?

4) Should we make voting mandatory?

iF you don't vote for a number (3,4 or 5) of years, you should lose the privilege to vote!

Haven't they already given up that privilege? Isn't that the problem as in a good year we have only a 50% participation rate...

Make voting day a federal holiday and pay people a hundred bucks to show up at the polls.

Only citizens could vote as required in the constitution. But you want the 32 million illegal invaders to vote. You want more of them coming into the US. The more the power increases. Illegal voting has been happening already. Check that of Obama and Hillary wins.

Your followers are all socialist-democrats hoping for free stuff. Therefore when that happens, socialism-democrats will always win, with lifetime power for life.

Then what happens? America turns to black and brown. And the greedy socialist leader become so powerful and wealthy as the people became slaves. I though you hate slavery PeterS. But why to you clamor for it again? Socialism and communism are both enslavement and that is the platform of the 20 socialist-democrats.

Lessen to them free stuff buying our votes with the money of the people. Once they are in, beware, your freedom is curtailed and you now go back to enslavement same as 400 years ago. Do you love that PeterS.?

Good idea. If all legal voters showed up for that $100, the bill would come to 13 trillion, 736 billion dollars, plus a smattering of about another 300 million. And that doesn't take into account the lost productivity, OR the cost to the business's for an extra holiday.

You mean a poll tax. They tried that and I am pretty sure it is unconstitutional. How about we just move voting to the first Saturday of November and increase the number of polls in each state.

PeterS, you want illegal aliens to vote?

Fascism has no God. Why does president Trump rely on our Christian God that our country has carried since birth? The president loves all of us, and he keeps his promise making our country great for all of us. Why do you enjoy your life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That is not Fascism. We have a Constitutional Republic as framed on our constitution since 243 years ago.

If Fascism exist why does your mouth rattles without limits? Why can all socialist DEMS lie and fabricate issues to destroy political opponents? Why are you getting your own cars and homes and all luxury items? Why does Hollywood freely entertain immoral lifestyle?

You lie the fact that you are enjoying everything of your freedom without limits right now.

You love socialism/communism, then perhaps you'll love to live in North Korea, and join Kim. or to communist China, or Cuba.

Then you want to return to slavery again. We lost 620,000 lives to free that slavery.

Should not make voting mandatory. Not voting is a form of voting (I can never understand why people treat voting so trivially). Opening more polls would be helpful, but do municipality's have the budget? Like most people, I don't like waiting in lines, so I have voted absentee ballot in every national or local election since 1968.) I'm afraid voting on Saturday would only guarantee less people voting - hey, its their day off. However, declaring a national holiday for all federal elections (essentially every two years) could be worth exploring. It might not increase voting immediately, but would over time gather steam as the voting public would be more apt to vote when it becomes a true grass roots national spectacle rather than one solely mainstream media driven as it is today.

Kevyn, have you really thought that proposal through? Why do you think that greater than 50% don't vote? It is because they have no or next to no interest in politics or voting! Do you want to persuade those people to come out and vote when they have no knowledge or no interest in who runs the Country or how it is run? That would be tantamount to flipping a coin except it would be worse since that segment would be highly susceptible to influence from the media, government indoctrination centers (schools), Hollywood and their neighbors' opinions. Would it not be more desirable to educate our society in an unbiased way about our Constitution and how other countries have fared under various policies and forms of governing. I realize that this is a "pie in the sky" proposal since it would be difficult if not impossible to agree upon a method to accomplish this task. I would like to see some intelligent discussion around these kinds of issues rather than some of the "who kicked whose dog" or who can come up with the vilest names for their opponents. Maybe I'm dreaming.
