Coal is more expensive than wind. More people work in the wind farm industry than work in coal. Yes, wind does not blow all the time, but we have managed to make it work. By the way, why are you so against a non poluting source of power?
Seems its so easy to judge me, isn't it..?? Who said I'm against a non polluting source of power..?? Where did I say that..??
Anything I posted was already researched. Compare the states.. California and Washington have the largest number of wind turbines. How do they fare..?? Nevada just built 3 (that's 3, count em) huge solar power farms just outside of Las Vegas. And, to boot, that's why Harry Reid got in hot water, he was going to take the ranch land used by the Bundy's under a 99 year life lease to the family by the Fed gov, and sell it to the Chinese. But eventually, we all know where this went. And there are articles on several sites that talk about how now, Nevada is giving up on solar. Due to costs, construction cost overruns, poor performance by the solar arrays, transmission problems, solar panel problems, etc, etc. Get the picture now..??
Arizona has 2 huge coal fired power plants, Page and Joseph City, along with the nuclear plant in Palo Verde. How do they fare..??
Texas, Kansas and Nebraska just spent the last 5 years putting up wind turbines all over the place. Amarillo, Dumas, Sweetwater, just to name a few. Liberal KS has been a site of several developments for wind power. Go ask the locals about it. Scottsbluff and Gering Nebraska. Go ask the locals about it.
The San Juan Generating station in NM was just shuttered. 1300 people out of jobs. All over environmentalist wackos. Did they attack the one at Page, AZ which is basically the same design..?? No, the state of AZ won't tolerate it. Something starting to jiggle a brain cell here..??
All I'm saying is that there is a bigger picture here than JUST wind, solar, or coal, or nuclear. In the old days, ALL power plants were powered by DIESEL engines. (I know, my dad ran one, the big 6 cylinder Waukesha engines) And the biggest misconception of all seems to be that that electricity at your house plug or the power at the recharge station for your electric car is somehow free or non-polluting. Its all a lie, sorry to tell you. The batteries that an electirc car use are expensive to make, and result in more pollution than any internal combustion engine puts out. Plus, once the battery has achieved its life span it can't be thrown away in a garbage dump. And batteries, all batteries, have a definite life span. Do you know what sulphuric acid is like, and its properties..?? The batteries have to be stored, permanently.
I did not post mis-information, dis-information, or any bullsh*t. The post was merely a collective summary of data I've read over the past few months. I would post the article about the batteries but I can't remember now where I saw it. You can find it with a little effort, so I don't feel obligated to hold your hand.
And no, sorry to bust your bubble, it doesn't take 5 years to recoup the wind turbine investment. It takes 15 to 18 years. If you don't think so, go ask the people of Dumas TX how their investment is working out. They'll be glad to tell you.
