As for the Second Amendment, it was written because it was believed a free standing army outside times of war too dangerous to the freedom and liberty of the public but since you cons so love the military and we have the baddest the world has to offer you have pretty much made the Second Amendment null and void. If you want to dismantle the military, as per the wishes of the founders, then, by all means, our militia should have access to any and all weapons necessary to defend our country. If you don't then we can rely on our military to protect us and a bolt action, shotgun, or six shooters will be more than sufficient for our homes...
The constitution says you have a right to bear arm... (show quote)

a well armed militia and the freedom OF the people the right to bear arms . When the second amendment was written the military firearm was a muzzle loader . scene then things have progressed . if you were so interested in people being hurt or killed by a firearm of any type. then get with your representative to push for loooonnger sentences for people who commit crimes with a weapon . maybe add 10 or 20 years to a conviction for the use of a weapon and leave law abiding citizens ALONE. as for your odd comment that "it was believed that a free standing army outside times of war to be to dangerous to the freedom and liberty of the public " so on an so on . you must of been taught that in your socialist educational programing . the second amendment gives the people the right to bear arms , SO , in the event of a national emergency we the people can if willing be a network of underground movements in support of our military . there is NOTHING stated to dismantle the military in times of peace . which would be ludacris . if per chance that were the case , how would we train a military worthy of going into battle , when it was needed . because if you wait until it was needed . WELL to late, you have been concurred already . made the second amendment null and void . NOT! you are WRONG again . I am not sure if you have read the Constitution , or the Bill of Rights . BUT if per chance you think that you have . I would be willing to bet that a socialist if not a communist in the department of "education " rewrote the document to distort the teachings within the school system to be a part of the indoctrination of the American , youth . this way when , if you look at almost every bimbocrat , running for the White House in 2020 . their all spewing out socialistic ideals . I personally thought that when a senator or a representative took the oath of office they swore to uphold the constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights . each and every one of them should be imprisoned as traitors to the country and the oath they took . what will you think when they develop laser weapons ? just a question . what if , hope it never happens , but what if we in America , were to be invaded . how do we as citizens support our military with bolt action or semi automatic firearms when the invaders have full auto firearms . that would be like bringing a knife to a gun fight . YES I DO CARE ABOUT CHILDREN . I have a couple of my own and grand children . I would hate it if they were killed in a shooting . but I would not disarm America because of my pain and suffering due to such a lose .

News flash.. we had world wide great recession when President Obama took office..

We should be darn thankful, or some should, we had the food stamp net in law at the time.

As you should know, economic events, like the season of the year, have a fly wheel nature.

It takes a bit of time for the forces of the moment to show up in the level of food stamp applicants and usage..

A short delay both in starting and ending any cycle of usage.. Econ 101..

the crash was in 2008, President Obama took office in 2009.. that is well withing the time line..

And states make stamps more available as time went on.. that also is a good thing and the way a safty net should work..

Last, the reduction started before the orange guy sat down.

Now, as the con man makes every effort to kick the remaining people off of snap, It is only the normal rate of reduction so far..

If he can, trump will make them do with out food while he enjoys fries and a cheeseburger for his lunch..
But we, the taxpayers will still pay for his burger..

7 years, yes much longer then it would have been without McConnell obstruction..

Just think how well thing would have worked, they worked for much of the nation even as it was..

If they did not work in your state, thank McConnell and the "never say yes" republicans..

if things started to get better under obumer , good . as for the "never say yes repubs. were to " blame " well they were elected to stop government waste , cut the spending . I guess that's why the bimbocrats in office are " never say yes bimbocrats " now . tit for tat . them darn repubs. wouldn't let obumer reach 30 trillion in debt . 21 wasn't bad enough ? our great , great , great , great grand children wont be able to pay off what we have already . so you think that we should keep things same o same o as usual and bury this country in unsustainable debt . I would venture to guess that you do not approve of our President , re negotiating our trade deals with China or Mexico . it may or may not hurt some of us for a while . in the end we will all be better off . this will help bring down our nations debt to the rest of the world . yep he gave a nice tax break to the wealthiest people in America . the results , more people back to work more tax revenue coming in. why if some one makes better voices and invest wiser than others , why should they have to pay higher taxes ? you could of done the same thing . so could I of done the same thing . but I didn't . but I do work at a occupation that I enjoy . which makes a big difference in the way I view things . have a good day and hope things get better for you .

You have to aim a semiautomatic just as well as any other rifle. I am not advocating hunting with a semiautomatic or without one. But the points raise so far against semiautomatics have been bogus. But as for self defense, DEFINITELY a semiautomatic can provide a big edge when defending against someone crazed, fanatical, on drugs, enraged, or specifically after you and not just a random burglary. I was taught that when defending against someone attacking, empty the magazine into them, as they can still come on even after being shot multiple times and even if the shot is ultimately fatal. This can be accomplished far more easily with a semiautomatic. Though a shotgun has its pros in close up defense as well. If the bad actor does not meet the criteria I listed, the sound of a pump action shotgun can be a good deterrent.

as far as damage.. Intent when combined with allowing must be a concern of every one of us..

No sense at all to simply wait until the river are burning once more..

Sad to say, without looking at the chart.. the EPA has been decimated by trump and henchmen..
recall the work to preserve documents back in 2017?? gee, bet you do not..

And you think that the United State as the largest polluter on the planet can simply rest on the accomplishments made under President Obama and not worry about the foolish deed of the chair sitter at this time?

So as we are in a cooling cycle now, that is the sun not the earth, think how lucky we are, the earth would be a great deal hotter then the record heat we are having now..

and look for ward to more of the same, but hotter..

Conditions in 2017
According to the American Meteorological Society's State of the Climate in 2017, the year brought an end to the three-year streak of new record temperatures that were set each year from 2014–2016. Depending on the data set used, 2017 came in second or third warmest, after 2016 (warmest) and 2015 (second or third warmest). The near-record temperatures occurred in the absence of El Niño, which is usually a factor in extreme global warmth. For much of 2017, El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) conditions were neutral, and October 2017 brought the start of La Niña, which typically drops global temperatures. Despite this, 2017 readings were 0.38–0.48° Celsius (0.68–0.86° Fahrenheit) above the 1981–2010 average, depending on the dataset. It was the warmest non-El Niño year in the instrumental record.

I am responding to your assertions. If you wanted the discussion to remain on the initial subject, you should not have made the assertion that Trump's policies were harming the environment. You went off topic and made an assertion I responded to.

I know all the narratives cry that we have seen record or near record heat in the last few years. But I have friends and colleagues involved in guide dogs and dogs in general, including former clients; in New Zealand, India, England, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Egypt, South Africa, and Brazil. All have had cooler temperatures over that past few years despite news reports to the contrary. Same where I live. In the late 1890s. we'd have 6 or more weeks of triple digit highs. We'd top 110 degrees on multiple days. Last summer we had one day with a high of 99 degrees. We had a week of highs in the high 90 degrees. And the lows in the 70 degrees. So far this June we have had two days top 90 degrees. Both in the low 90s. Our lows have mostly been in the low to mid 30 degrees but those days with the 90 degree highs had lows of 39 degrees and 41 degrees. If it were just in my region, you could say it was weather, not climate. But as I have stated, my long time friends and colleagues in countries all over the world have kept track.

Most people don't record temps or other weather. As a guide dog trainer who has to train in all kinds of weather, it is one of the details I record for each dog I train in a dog training daily journal. This is the norm for guide dog trainers. So we have a written record at hand going back many years. Yet last summer on several occasions the news stations reported we had a record heat wave. People who don't keep track themselves believe what they are told on the news. Even sites like NASA has 'adjusted' their satellite images. Last year they had polar satellite photos taken from geosync orbit which clearly showed our polar caps had expanded over the previous 3 years. This spring I went back to copy those photos and only found images (not photos) which indicated the caps were shrinking. In reading the page, it stated the data had been adjusted to smooth out the data for anomalies.

But to get back to your assertion Trump is harming the environment (an issue YOU yourself raise), I ask again, WHAT HARM HAS HIS POLICIES DONE? If you had said you believed his policies might result in harm--then it would be your opinion. But you did not say that. You said his policies were harming the environment. You state this as a fact, not opinion. Facts can be documented. So WHAT HARM?!?!?

In truth, we "fine Christian Conservatives" are very concerned about the safety of the children no matter where they are--at home, at play, in church, in school or in the womb.

We "fine Christian Conservatives" have continuously sought realistic approaches to improving the safety of our children, we have put forth many proposals, suggestion, ideas, and solutions, all of which seem to hit the solid walls of progressive politics and politically correct policies.

Regarding the killing of children in schools, we "fine Christian Conservatives" fully understand that dealing with the effect rather than the cause is entirely irrational and doomed to fail every time. Put simply, blaming the instrument or device used to kill the children is pure unrealistic nonsense. Banning a particular type of instrument or device can never solve the problem. IOW, banning a semi-auto firearm is no more effective in preventing a school shooting than banning a currette, a spinal syringe or a decapitator will stop abortions.

To put some perspective on this, in 2017, mass shootings took the lives of 461 people, 77 of whom died in school shootings, 43 of them were students.

In 2017, 72,000 people died of Opioid overdose, 4200 (approx) were under age 24.

In addition, medical professionals and health organizations are becoming increasingly alarmed at the rate of birth defects and infant addiction due to Opioids such as codeine, morphine and oxycodone, prescribed for pregnant women. These problems include miscarriages, preterm labor and premature birth, heart defects and spina bifida, fetal growth restriction, gastroschisis, and Neonatal abstinence syndrome (addiction), just to name a few. The number of babies suffering these defects is in the thousands.

For all your babbling about logical fallacies and irrational thinking, your demand for banning semi-auto firearms is about as illogical and irrational as it gets.

Blade runner said"Wal-Mart no longer sells guns" when I said they did. He also said the background check was a longer process than 5 minutes . I buy a gun every few months and I get my gun within 5 minutes. If it does take longer it is because they are busy---usually after a mass shooting and the usual hype "They are coming to take our guns !!" or the system is having computer problems. Five minutes is the norm and that is a fact .

U.S. greenhouse gas emissions spiked in 2018 — and it couldn’t happen at a worse time
By Chris Mooney and
Brady Dennis January 8
U.S. carbon dioxide emissions rose an estimated 3.4 percent in 2018, according to new research — a jarring increase that comes as scientists say the world needs to be aggressively cutting its emissions to avoid the most devastating effects of climate change.

The findings, published Tuesday by the independent economic research firm Rhodium Group, mean that the United States now has a diminishing chance of meeting its pledge under the 2015 Paris climate agreement to dramatically reduce its emissions by 2025.

The findings also underscore how the world’s second-largest emitter, once a global leader in pushing for climate action, has all but abandoned efforts to mitigate the effects of a warming world. President Trump has said he plans to officially withdraw the nation from the Paris climate agreement in 2020 and in the meantime has rolled back Obama-era regulations aimed at reducing the country’s carbon emissions.
