What ever emotional issues you are dealing with, I would have to believe you will overcome them. I loved the picture of the dog. I am convinced that dogs are more powerful healers of both mental and physical problem than physicians. You sound like a strong person and I would bet on you.

There are so many places where government needs to be cut you just don’t know where to start? Would you consider cutting your Social Security or your Medicare first or would you cut education or food stamps? Where else would you cut?

We have constituencies that are against particular cuts? Of course we do, ours is a pressure group democracy. People like yourself who are receiving Social Security and Medicare would certainly be a pressure group that would protect your place at the public trough. You and your constituencies would go more nuts than you are if there were any attempts to end you dependency on the goodies you get.

Just like reasonable, fair share of taxes means your taxes sky high, mine as low as possible? That’s how our system works.

God must be feared. If you don’t believe in him and don't use the reasoning power he gave us (some of us), you will burn in Hell for eternity. That seems to be something that would not be a good thing and could cause someone to fear Him. Does burning in Hell amuse you?

Why don’t you ask questions rather than making wild assumptions and blowing smoke?

You are some what of a clown.

Apparently you don't enjoy our little conversations so much when I put the verbal bitch slap on you.

There you go again, telling others how afraid we are.
Have you ever told US on the right, just WHAT we are afraid of?

I don't want to get into a lengthy response about this as it has been my experience that most people who label themselves conservative, Tea partiers, libertarian and other right wing ask questions about this issue only to try to find a gotchas.

If you are truly interested, and really want information, I will answer your questions as well as I can and I will refer you to basic sources. Until I hear from you that you are actually seeking information and understanding rather than in defending your present opinions and beliefs, I don’t want to waste my time.

Wolfie,

I wouldn't confuse you with someone who asks real questions, wants information, or understanding. There is nothing I could say that you could possibly understand, because you are obviously pants wetting terrified. Don't waste my time with your childish games.

O.K. Athenian. I'm sorry that I have been such a hard case. Understand that although I seem incorrigible I am sincerely interested in all viewpoints. I don't conform to either party and I consider myself a lone wolf in this quagmire we call politics. So tell me, son of Ariston, what is the sum of my fears.

Glaucon,

" Do you really enjoy these little talks where I give you a good verbal spanking. "

You really are a legend in your own mind. First off, we are not in verbal mode. We are communicating with the written word, you cannot verbally spank me. However, " spanking me " seems to satisfy your need to believe you are winning. As the giant in the Princess Bride said " I just want people to think they are doing well ". So please continue to live in your fantasy world. It apparently brings you great joy.

" Can you say masochist? " Okay, I said it. Oh, wait you couldn't hear me. The definition is one who derives pleasure from being abused. I don't accept myself as being abused by you, but you seem to see yourself as an abuser. Do you feel guilt over that?

" You don’t want to upset me? Be real. " Interesting. So I can begin using more accurate adjectives in describing your behavior on this board because your ego is not as fragile as I feared. I figured you as a rock throwing glass house kinda guy. My mistake.

" What disingenuous techniques do I employ? "
You pretend to show respect for opposing points of view, when you really have none. You have a phony politeness in your questions. I myself sometimes stoop to that, but I find being honestly blunt to be more productive, at least when dealing with honestly blunt people.

" You have reduced me to a type? Is that what is called a thinking problem? "

Yes, you have a thinking problem.

" You know enough about me to believe I am so emotionally invested in my philosophy that I ignore facts? What is my philosophy? What facts that contradict? "

Well, from memory I tried to engage you in a discussion of at least some substance. We wrote about the differences in government sizes. You said you believed in a goldilocks government. Not too big, not too small, just right. I pointed out that a smaller government is closer to goldilocks than a large one.

I mean you are aware that people try to influence government to their own benefit. This is not always a bad thing, but the bigger and richer government gets, the more it is likely to be corrupted by influence peddlers. Also deep pockets will command more respect from government tin gods than from poor folk such as ourselves.

" I have constituencies? Who and where are they? "

You are an Obama supporter, right? His constituents are your constituents. Take from the rich who don't contribute to the Democratic Party and give to the poor who vote legal or not, for Democrats.

" Would you consider cutting your Social Security or your Medicare first or would you cut education or food stamps? "

I am not yet on old people welfare. Yes that is what it is. Yes I would vote to cut it only because it will be cut much more later, if it is not controlled now. But then I am not in denial as you are as to the real state of entitlement finances. Before my actuarial death, SS and Medicare will get cut by default when they run out of money.

" Where else would you cut? " Glad you asked. I would start with the IRS. It has been totally corrupted by Obama. Some serious budget cuts there. Then I would eliminate the Department of Education. Free up that money and give it to the states for their education agencies. Except for the nuclear regulatory agency, I would shutdown the energy department. I would revamp the US ICE and have them actually do their jobs. Close down all sections corrupted by Obama and use that money to finish the fence. The rest of the money and it would be plenty would be returned to the taxpayer.

" Just like reasonable, fair share of taxes means your taxes sky high, mine as low as possible? That’s how our system works. "

You don't know much in this area, do you? Taxes are raised, then loop holes are created for those politically connected. You lower all taxes and close loop holes.

" God must be feared. If you don’t believe in him and don't use the reasoning power he gave us (some of us), you will burn in Hell for eternity. That seems to be something that would not be a good thing and could cause someone to fear Him. Does burning in Hell amuse you? "

You don't seem to know for sure what you believe. If you peruse the entire Bible you find contradictory meanings. I go with the ones that comfort me. Hopefully that will keep me out of hell or at least get me in a higher circle than you. Yes I have read Dante's Inferno and enjoyed it. The prospect of putting into hell as Dante did, everyone you dislike is really quite amusing.

" Why don’t you ask questions rather than making wild assumptions and blowing smoke? "

I hope you find my current questions more to your liking.

" You are some what of a clown. "

I could say that about you, but your sense of humor disqualifies you.

Thank you, and the same for you as well. For all the opposition you come into on this forum, I've never read you to lose your temperament, nor miss a step on remaining steady in what you believe.

I did answer you, just not as timely as you might like. Some of us have jobs and family obligations which have priority over this.

You apparently have no worries or responsibilities to distract you. How is the care free retirement life anyway? Living off the sweat and toil of others. Hey I'm not knocking it, I'm jealous. At least I will feel guilty, a little, when the younger folk get to support me.

You sent me some statements, but they certainly didn’t have much if anything do with my comments. I asked you some questions you ignored and you misunderstood some of my comments so completely your statements didn’t make any sense.

You assume I have no worries or responsibilities. That is called pulling assumptions out of your ass or more formally, making assumptions without any apparent information upon which to base them.
I think “living off the sweat and toil of others” is called capitalism.

I have raised five children, put them through college, helped them get started financially, I didn’t do that because I owed it to them, I did that because they are my children. I am presently financially independent, so my offspring don’t need to support me. However, if I did need their financial support, I would ask for it and accept it without guilt, simply because I am their father, and not because I think they owe me something.

I think you are obsessed with having to believe you are right and you respond as though exchanges of opinions and learning from each other is some kind of zero sum game in which there is a winner and loser regardless of reason and evidence. Since you have to be right that makes sharing opinions and learning impossible. Don’t bother to respond to my present comments. If you need to ignore them, do so with my blessings. If you can learn from them, do so with my blessings.

Glaucon,

I listed most of your points and responded to them individually. That is a far more bit of courtesy than you ever extended to me.

Now as far as misunderstanding someone's comments, you far outshine me. I assume you are collecting SS. As such you are living off the sweat and toil of others. Now don't feel bad about it. I will do the same one day, God willing. It is the system we were born into. I just acknowledge the unfairness of it to your kids and mine, who will never collect what they put in.

There you go " Projecting " again. Of course I am obsessed with winning the argument over you. I am just completely honest about it and you pretend you are not. I also believe that your views are destructive to our country. Since I would never try to silence you, the best I can do is point out where you are wrong.

And why do you continue to bash Capitalism? Capitalism gave you the great opportunity to raise 5 children and put them through college. Right now under Obama's Collectivism, many young people do not have your opportunity. They cannot move out of their parent's basements. They cannot start families and buy houses because under your guy the wealth gap is wider than ever. Why is that? Why !

Nicely done. I am a conservative and I am not afraid to admit that. I believe people let their anger control their arguments. Some do not know that there are parliamentary rules for debate. They are in document called Hansard. Having said that, most of what I see is fear, anger and a desire to hurt and destroy an elected government. We must rejoice in the fact that we have a peaceful way to make change. America has the ability to
teach the world about our constitution and what it truly means. We must transcend petty ideas and prejudices and work to keep our country the place others seek in order to live the Dream, the American Dream . For many, it means peace and happiness for the first time in their lives. We must believe in America.

You missed understanding on most every point I made and then attacked your misunderstanding. For just one example, I an a very strong supporter of capitalism. It has worked well for me and, if I had to do it over again, I could do it as easily as I did the first time. I love capitalism. Do You get that? Is that different from your misunderstanding that I was bashing capitalism? Attribute intentions, motives, and behaviors to someone that they don't have, pretend they have them, and then bash them. That is not only unfair, but is dishonest or stupid. You decide.
