fogey sounds nicer. Oh by the way my nieghbors sometimes mow my curbside lawn. We watch out for each other. I'll mow my niegbors grass when they are gone for a while to throw off any would be thieves who might take unmowed grass as an all clear sign

I believe AuntiE favors 'old fogey' as opposed to 'old fart'.

Not always Tom. He is always lurking inside trying to get out. If we are very careful, we can contain him. Once in a great while, in a moment of weakness, he escapes. When that occurs we are shamed to no end, and vow to try and let it never again happen. We are only human, with all the foibles of human beings, and must always be on guard to restrain that evil wolf residing inside us. It has nothing to do with politics. It is a constant battle between good and evil.

Air Force food was terrific. I got steak quite often Scampi sometimes. Good fish and all I wanted. The Army food I had was not all that great. I did however like grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.I went to the Army after the Air Force. wanted to go to the Navy Then the Marines but that did not happen.

I do not mean disrespect, but I was in the Air Force and to my knowledge the food was good, the duty was light, and I had a very enjoyable career. So did my husband. And, please refer to it as Air Force. Two words, proper noun. Thank you.

I see what you mean. I don't intend to let the bad wolf out but if the right button is pushed he gets out. The trick is self control.

It is sometimes hard to say.Is satisfaction that you stood up to a bully a bad or good thing? Is backing down then feeling ashamed of yourself good for you spiritually?

That does occur. My button was pushed and I reacted. I shamed myself. No one can, or will, castigate me as bitterly as I have castigated myself. I will not apologize, which only exacerbates the problem. An apology would not suffice to the recipient of my anger, nor will it relieve me of my self loathing. I am only sorry for letting my anger override my better instinct's.

I am a proud Marine, but will defend my brothers and sisters in the other branches with all I can muster. Of course, we all enjoy intra-service humor and jousting. That
does not distract from the respect each branch deserves. Each serves our country proudly!

I agree, and we also enjoy the inter-service rivalry.

For what its worth:

Each would then be 1/3. But you would have increased by 50%.

Two divided by two equals one.
Three divided by two equals 1.5. 50% more.

Enough of that its bed time.

I was pulling up to the supermarket and there were lots of empty spaces all around. I was a few inches over a yellow dividing line and I heard someone curseing my parking. I asked what the problem was and heard the complaint. so I got in my Ford Pickup and pulled around the lot and parked beside the guy. He was headed to the store by then and he turned around and tipped his had and curtseed with a smart aleckey grin at me. I was not going to let him get away with this. So I got my cart and followed him around the store. I got no closer than 15 feet from him but made sure he knew I was there. In a short time he was trying his best not to look at me. I had him S--ting his pants. That was good enough for me and I went about my buisness. Even a Silver haired ol man can get sweet revenge.

each service has a job to do, I was first in the U.S.Air Force as an aircraft mech. then in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mech. I was stationed on seven different bases and two different ships the best food I ate was on the USS Midway it was home ported in Japan but was only allowed to stay in port a max. of two weeks except at Christmas we had an extra week, I should point out there is a difference between an aircraft mech. and an engine mech.
