(of a person or wrongful act, especially a crime) utterly odious or wicked.
"a battery of heinous crimes"
There is nothing heinous about a sense of racial superiority. It is neither odious nor is it wicked. It may be ill founded but it is an evolutionary necessity and a fundamental gregarian reality. It is an extension of the same instinctual sense, and source of security, that causes a family to bind together, a culture to band together and a nation to see itself as unique and special. It is not a bad thing in and of itself.
Like politics, religion and all other emotionally based sensibilities, it is how it is used by manipulative minds that makes it a bad thing.
There has never been and will never be a time when notable differences between people won't raise the hackles in anticipation of an unfriendly confrontation.
If we were all the same shade of brown, we would find that blue eyes were suspicious or red hair was a sign of potential trouble. Racism is not something that can be stamped out but it can be understood and we, as a species, can work with it without destroying one another. We can't do that by trying to ignore it and neither can we root it out by attempting to make it into a word that cannot be spoken aloud.
We can control the instinctive distrust, minimize our reaction to apparent differences by all adopting the same public culture. That won't make it go away but it will make it manageable. It is not some mystical affectation unique to the USA that has allowed people from the world over to live together peaceably here. It is the simple reality of the mandated adherence to the overriding push to cultural assimilation... the American dream. Our elementary education used to be focused on the flag, the fact that anyone can grow up to be President and everyone is welcome to call himself or herself an American, and do so with a pride earned by previous generations of Americans.
As long as evil people can manipulate gullible masses, any difference is a potential problem for society. Adherence to the same social standards and cultural mores will go a long way toward taking the power away from the manipulators. It is much harder to hate people who seem to behave the same as we do and value the same things we value.
By attaching emotionally loaded pejoratives to racism, such as heinous, only makes it seem far more important that it is.

The American Dream is very materialistic, and the symbols it comes from are Idealistic, the dream is out of sync with the flag.
Phonetics and "Gregorian reality" puts me in mind of people who believe Christ was from a wandering Aryan tribe who stopped by the Galilee sea, but this is not true, if it was accepted as fundamentally true with archeological and linguistic proof would these people who initiated the then proven true belief be given an opportunity to become the standard bearers of appearance, colloquia, dress, and attitudes?.
I doubt it, even the Gregorian Calender is wrong, when we get to the year 4909 we will be one whole day ahead of the solar year.
Systems have always failed man and instinct couldn't have come from failure.
Teleology failed as a discipline because they couldn't define instinct, certainly they said it related to purpose that has no cause therefore our subliminally originated actions must have been designed without purpose except for personal metabolistic bodily functions only, which we attach mentally in order to associat with others to lessen the pain and increase the pleasure by working together.
So that's now politics taken from our disciplined subjects of communication, some ideas emanating from these established arrangements are good for pleasure and some are bad, the greatest good for the greatest number Jeremy Bentham.
Some instinctive behaviour I think is still current that was biologically founded over 2 million years ago but which ones, and why are they still with us ? that's what Teleology couldn't decipher.
Biological diversity is good but it's not the result of politics and so can't be maintained by politics if it has to be protected by unending violance, how could that be the greatest good, and it's seperate from ethical behaviour, you can't tie any kind of ethics up to segregation based on biological characteristics associated with race, that is, if emerging demographics are certain to win because we have to work together for the greater good and all these people of different origins are already here.
Assimilation is only ideas about the best common interest achieving mass acceptance, manipulators spread ideas that are tested to see if are they common good or not, apartheid is common for some but others are bound to object, Trump has turned the US into a racial experiment involving a big part of the world his only real valuable racial alli so far is Macron.
