Radiance: after reading your post I am once again thankful that people can "agree to disagree." I served on active duty in the military and met many, many people of all races and cultures. My experience taught me that yes, there are bad apples in every race - including my own. Yet, there are so many more who just want the same things that you and I want: a decent place to live, an honest job with decent pay, and security for our families. To say that "most of them...." is wrong -especially considering that you couldn't possibly know that -unless you have actually talked with them and they told you that they "come here wishing to harm us." That sounds more like paranoia -which many politicians use to control people -fear of that which is new or different. What do you think about the fact that the white man brought many races here -usually against their will, to work the land and build the country, but when you look at our history -those white men always turned on those races to oppress and suppress them -even when those other races never asked to be here, and once here, only wanted a decent and peaceful life?

First, thank you for your service. I always honor those who've served. My husband died young in Vietnam, shortly after graduating from college, he was drafted. That is why I have the highest respect for those who served our country.
We should have never been to Vietnam. A waste of almost 60,000 of our men. The most painful moment of my life, when he was not able to come home.
On the other hand, the many races brought here to toil on the land, and did many hard work is a normal part of life at the beginning. Slavery since the Biblical age is being practiced. Even until now, the Muslims take other races and use them as slaves. But we don't do that anymore. It is cruel and uncivilized.
I think it was a blessing that slavery was sold and were brought here. Because they were eventually given that freedom of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the equality protected by law. Those left behind from where they came from, has remained so desperately helpless and struggling to survive. Fact is all of them now want to come.
Building this country, I think everybody worked hard from the beginning. Others have the mental abilities planned for building a better future. Working mentally and physically was needed to make their lives better. And they did that.
The first white settlers struggled from the very beginning. They toiled the land manually, with no shelter to warm up. They have the Holy Bible they depended on. They struggled under the harshest conditions. Many of them died because of the adversities they faced.
Fact is I am grateful to all of those in the past who made this country great. They earned their rewards.
Knowing the history of this country is important. I think we have the best country in the world given the guidance of the Judeo-Christian principles of our constitution.
May God continue to bless America.
