Every single one of us believes in and practices responsible, safe firearms ownership and handling, and I haven't met a single fellow member who acts like a "cowboy" or endorses anything but weapons safety and sensible gun policies.
We do, however, support Americans' Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
The vast majority of the anti-gun rhetoric you see and hear is entirely agenda-driven and totally uninformed bullshit put out by people whose only goal is to disarm the population at all costs. Most of the "information" about "assault weapons" and other firearms these organizations put out is technically inaccurate to unbelievable degrees as are the statistics they cite -- it's all about an end justifying the means.
The "liberal" establishment has a nasty habit of forcing unnatural agendas on the rest of us that we want no part of, yet it's not enough; they also feel the need to get into our business and try to deprive us of Rights we enjoy under the Constitution.
The NRA are not the villains these liars make us out to be, we simply belong to an organization that supports a Constitutional right, endorses what I mentioned above and, contrary to "popular" belief, also supports such policies as game conservation, firearms education, safe hunting and other firearms sportsmanship and competitive shooting.
It's interesting to note, incidentally, that in countries like England, where it's very tough to obtain a firearm, knife crime has reached a point where it is as big an issue as gun control is here in America.
Go figure.
