There is some disagreement about free speech where incitement and infringing on others is concerned. Also where lies and propaganda are concerned. There is a gray line involving knowing you are fraudulently representing things depending on what the motivation is...

which is why I wanted to know what the context with Ted L is

Statements like yours that have no context become part of the uninformed rhetoric and noise, the right lives in that zone....

a dem wants to do away with free speech...you could drive a truck through the holes in that.

If there's no free speech for lies and propaganda, most of our news services and talk shows would go dark

Darned good thing it isn't a Democracy unless you want the population centers of NY & California controlling everything. Thank God the founders recognized this and created the Electoral College. At 84 I don't know how long I will be any part of this show but you youngsters had better watch out for Democraps voter fraud and repeated attempts to get rid of the Electoral College.

AGREED and AMEN!!! Because we are a republic we regular folks are saved from being ruled by the big cities.

Define republic for me since you know that?

Where did the part about a government by the people for the people go? In a democracy the majority rules, and that is part of the divide here as republicans just don't have the numbers anymore and won't relinquish power.

The USA was established as a republic, of/by/for the people, but it has always operated democratically, the majority rule, until now. Now the majority's voice has been squelched. One personm a few people or a small group is allowed to set the rule, to change the rule, etc, that EVERYONE must follow with no regard for the wishes of the majority. Example..... we have only about 3 million muslims in our country, yet their power here is out of all proportion to their numbers. We have 50+ million Mexicans (about 20 million illegals) in the USA, yet they have developed very powerful political organizations in the USA that represents the interests ONLY of them and Mexico. These two groups, especially, of the foreigners in our country have caused, and are causing, many changes in the USA, NOT changes for the better of America and Americans, but only for their own benefit, and each change gives them more power here and weakens our nation/government further, which is the intent of both groups.

A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.

Republic. That form of government in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whome those powers are specially delegated. [NOTE: The word "people" may be either plural or singular. In a republic the group only has advisory powers; the sovereign individual is free to reject the majority group-think. USA/exception: if 100% of a jury convicts, then the individual loses sovereignty and is subject to group-think as in a democracy.]

Democracy. That form of government in which the sovereign power resides in and is exercised by the whole body of free citizens directly or indirectly through a system of representation, as distinguished from a monarchy, aristocracy, or oligarchy. [NOTE: In a pure democracy, 51% beats 49%. In other words, the minority has no rights. The minority only has those privileges granted by the dictatorship of the majority.]
