It all sound good when taken out of context. I was just a child but I remember big family arguments on the subject. My father was a deep historian and was discussed with the program. As a young man who saw WWll depopulation campaign coming he joined the Merchant Marines to stay out of it. It did not work out so well. After Pearl Harbor his ship was assigned to the clean up. Six month of pulling bodies and body part out of ships scared him for life. Knowing that Russian Communism had murdered millions and Mao was murdering tens of millions of his own people (est. 60 million +) in his communist Social Revolution, to many like my Dad any socialist or communist leaning was repugnant. Communism has never been a result of populist ground swell. The Bolshevik's, Stalin, Mao, the communist movement in Hollywood were never hurting for money. The entire US Constitution is designed to protect the liberty and sovereignty of the individual from the oppression of government. Socialism and Communism requires a loss of that sovereignty and reduction if not total loss of liberty. Therefor leaning toward these forms of government is leaning toward tyranny and if you are a believer in liberty it must be stopped or at a minimum exposed.

I applaud Joe McCarthy and his right hand man the young Robert Kennedy. The real smear artist was Murrow and his Communist Broadcasting System.

McCarthy has been vilified by the left for decades for his anti-socialist and anti-communist crusades. Part of the criticism was not only did he "grand stand" while conducting a "witch hunt", but he was beating a "dead horse". Meaning, this had already been done 15 years earlier by Rep. Martin Dies and his House Committee on Un-American Activities campaign.

Dies committee was formed after the FDR administration started employing communists into the federal government...on purpose! The committee was derailed (by design) when it went after Shirley Temple because she was associated with a known communist. I say, by design, because on the committee with Dies was fellow Rep. from New York, Samuel Dickstein. Dickstein, later, was discovered to be a communist himself that had subversively worked to discredit the committee from within.

Nonetheless, whether McCarthy was rehashing "old news" or not...HE WAS RIGHT! Like him or not, HE WAS RIGHT!

As for Edward R. Murrow, he was a known Leftist with an agenda.

They lack the innate ability to think for themselves, much less write them, spelling and grammar aside. They rely on 'cut and paste', links to left wing blogs or media, and the Alinsky type talking points so in favor with the left. They rarely, if ever, post anything of substance that would engender a meaningful dialogue for debate. In short, they are just here to foment discord, and denigration of opposing viewpoints. It is apparent that all they seek is attention. The only approbation they receive is from others of their ilk. Some even applaud themselves inasmuch as even their cohorts don't always give them the attention they are desirous of, and desperately seek. They should be completely ignored by all serious debaters and thinking people. Even when attacking people personally, they should be ignored, even though it is sometimes difficult from refraining to respond. They just want the attention they so desperately need to fill out their dull and uneventful days. In short, they are just foolish dupes of the left.
